The World Cup gets progressively less interesting as the upstart teams get eliminated and all that's left is the usual France, Argentina etc.
It would have at least been notable to see a Malvinas War rematch between Argentina and England.
Huh? When was the last time, not one, but TWO upstart teams reached the semifinal?
There were also two "big" teams already eliminated in the group stage (Belgium and Germany) and Spain in the first k.o. round. Sure, the finalists were among the pre-tournament favorites but overall, there were quite a few surprising matches/results.
US President Joe Biden has joined a growing list of people who publicly admired Morocco’s national team following its eye-catching performance at the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

Who cares?
The only thing newsworthy during the endless monotony of preliminary rounds is which standard team got upset by an upstart. Even that is only newsworthy for a week or two, after which wgaf if Croatia wins or not.
I'm glad Morocco didn't win, because of their rioting fans.
Get through your thick woke skull. He will never, ever be French. His kids his grandkids, no matter who they let stay in France that's not French, will ever be French. Ever. Do I need to repeat?

I wouldn't call Croatia an upstart. They made the final in the last world cup and have made the semis not too long ago.
In the early 2000s Turkey and South Korea made the semifinals.

The semis were not as entertaining as the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal games were pretty epic.

Well it was an incredibly exciting final, with some key mistakes and moments of brilliance shown from both sides. Argentina looked better for the balance of the game other than after they got punched in the mouth. Sad that the overall Cup will be forever tarnished by the Qatari corruption and overall backworldness, but plenty of memories to be kept from what happened on the pitches.
See some of you in the stands in a little over 3 and a half years.
