    As a teacher I'd expect you to have greater critical thinking skills than this. The 7x and 41% claims of rate and success are false. Most studies put it at 2x at most for both (lots of research at the NIH feel free). Sure that's higher than the general population but the rate of suicide is very low or in line with other mental illness. You can treat people as kind as you want but the mental illness is the risk factor. Additionally, highlighting and dramatizing suicide rates no matter what they are is against best practices within public health because it has a paradoxical effect of increasing suicide.

    The majority of gender non-conforming children grow to be normal, functioning adults through counselling without surgical or hormonal intervention. Most gender non-conforming kids don't need counselling at all but the freedom to be who they are.

    Most gender non-conforming kids have never been transgender. So it's not a big surprise they do not grow up to become transgender adults.

    There's a significant amount of confusion going on here.

    Discrimination can come from any direction. That there is a huge disparity between the non-binary competitor to prize pool compared to the others is a form of discrimination. Whether unfair is something else and that's up to a judge.

    Being "non-binary" or "transgender" is not a physical state but psychological to some and ideological to others. There is no rational reason to have an additional category because neither impacts competition. There might just as well be nationality or cat vs dog owner categories as it carries no more meaning to competition.

    Man and woman however, are not metaphysical concepts but hard biological reality and all should compete in their sexed category. Sex cannot change. Humans are not special in the animal kingdom. You can easily verify that all the research shows post-transition males never lose their physical advantage and frankly, people who continue to argue the opposite in the face overwhelming evidence are gaslighting themselves.

    The Brooklyn half did the same thing as well. The prize money was equal for the men, women, and non-binary divisions; it went $2000, $1000, $500, $200, $100.

    Here is the amount of finishers: 13,590 Men | 11,724 Women | 75 Non-Binary.

    Not counting course and local bonuses, the money was distributed as follows:

    $0.279 per man, $0.324 per woman, and and $50.667 per non-binary athlete.

    I've posted this before and I will again.

    A set dollar value (like $1) from every entry fee should go to the prize pool in which that entrant will be competing.

    By finishers, Brooklyn would have had prize pools of $13,590, $11,724 and $75. (Given that not all entrants finished, the actual numbers would be higher, of course).

    Then divide it it among the top finishers on the same percent basis for each group (like 50%, 25%, 15%, 7%, 3%). (Or something else to pay the top 10. Whatever).

    If there are more women, they can make more money.

    If there are more non-binary runners, they can make more money,

    It is perfectly fair to all.

    There should be male and female categories. Prize money past a certain amount should require proof of gender/ID. If you don't want to show proof then don't race or you could protest online until someone caters to your special needs.
