The invasion of Ukraine is partly to blame for driving energy costs, but energy costs were rising prior to that action in response the Biden's executive orders that have severely limited the oil and gas industry in this country. We are not all that reliant on Russian energy. A normal president would respond to that action by encouraging domestic production (we have the capacity to be pretty much energy independent, that is part of what makes us a superpower). Instead, Biden's response was to ban fracking, put a moratorium on drilling on federal lands, and make it harder to get permits by redefining the criteria necessary to get a permit. His one response was to release oil from the strategic reserve that would leave us more vulnerable in the event of full war breaking out. Don't kid yourself. Biden has been driving up energy costs as well.
