I ran against Salazar in 1991 in a Midwestern 10K. Like, we line up, and Salazar is there. Hadn't seen him in what, six or seven years? And this is some podunk race with maybe 500 participants?

You're a loser. Studs are masculine not feminine.
Language evolves. Sometimes, that occurs as a race to the bottom (some might say that happens, uh, everyday). In other cases, it's a reasonable alteration for exigent circumstances, as for one hoping to describe a badass effort, achievement, etc. in a gender-neutral way -- here, to describe a badass local runner.
Or would you prefer "studette," my troglodyte friend?
Oh, and also: Good for J. Hasay on the day. I don't know a thing about her recent training and goals, but this looks solid (5K/10K pairing), especially in light of her recent struggles. No, it's not pre-2020 JH, but time will tell whether she's on her way back to that.
One more thing on Hasay: She has a host of top-notch performances while living her life inf the fishbowl, and in spite of any missteps she's battled like a warrior time and time again. Respect, respect, respect.
Did she look smooth?
That's a tragedy, not something to be celebrated.
Did others recognize him? Did you get to talk to him after?
I love the Lopes story. He inspires me to not give up. Every runner will have setbacks and injuries; the key is to bounce back from them.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
