and Josh Kerr and Josh Thompson. What is going on?
Kerr slipped and fell to the ground at the start line.
Actually pretty incredible of Kerr to fall on his face at the start and still clock 3:51.7. Most of the men’s field seems to have run pretty well at season’s end, except for the last 4. Best result for Hocker since Pre IMO.
Sam Parsons - who is a 5k runner more than a miler - going for the halfway money bonus is nothing new, and of NO surprise. Look at last year's race, for example. He knows, and so do the other runners, that he's not going to finish at the top. So he has fun, gets some money out of his participation, enjoys the unique camaraderie, and smiles because a) he'll be happy to collect relatively easy money, b) he knows that haters gonna hate on LRC, and b) those people will shoot their arrows at him no matter what the results.
I say this every year...give the athletes more room after the finish!!! All that momentum and then having to suddenly break to not crash into the camera people and barriers. Ugh!

I meant brake but break also applies since they have to break off to the left and right around the camera people.
Net downhill I believe. Times are always pretty quick.
Fair enough, I've never been to where the course was - just heard Goucher mention that the first half is downhill but then it pulls back up in the second
Did anyone run this in standard racing flats rather than super shoes? I saw Muir was in Vaporfly's and Wightman had the RC Elite. Conventional wisdom on this board has it that supershoes don't make much difference for the mile so wouldn't these athletes opt for low weight shoes rather than the bulkier super shoes?
