I really think you’re a troll at this point with such silly argument but I’m going to give you a serious answer :
We can all play that game. Yeah you had to scroll down on Letsrun but then I can also say the whole world athletics website was remade for world u20, showing schedule and everything when you opened it. But then if the Bro Jo’s are your only source of informations about the sport that may explain why your knowledge is so limited.
Please try to understand that if Letsrun posts a lot about us trials, that’s because letsrun is an american website. They didn’t post a lot about world u20 because the only distance/middle distance american “stars” who decided to go were Juliette Whittaker and Roisin Willis. Those two still got a lot of coverage, with one of the biggest thread this week being about them. Like another poster said, if we had Hobbs, Flatt, the Sahlmans or the Youngs in a final you would have seen a lot of coverage because they are american stars.
Doesn’t mean the rest of the world don’t care about this competition. Just go to World Athletics website or instagram page and tell me how many posts you see about world u20 and how many about US trials. World athletics instagram page has 2 millions followers, that’s more than letsrun will ever have, letsrun only have 8000. In fact, even the World u20 2022 instagram page has twice the amount of followers Letsrun have, even though that page was only active for three or four months. So not seeing a lot of coverage on letsrun is really not a good argument.
The fact that Flatt qualified without hitting the standards prove they don’t mean much, you have to be top 32 and that’s it. At world u20s the standards are very easy because you can’t run the competition without having them, then each country have their own qualification process on top of them. If you look at world u20s 800m final the top 5 were all in 1:44/45 shape and you can’t deny it.
Plus no one is trying to argue that qualifying at US senior trials is harder than qualifying at world u20s. We’re just saying that qualifying at USAs only to brag about who you beat in the first round of the championship is not better than a world championship medal.
Do you know Ajee Wilson finished 8th in her semi final at 2012 US trials ? Probably not. On the other hand a lot of people know she is the 2012 world u20 champion.
