This link provides information about the engine track and field records. There was a recent marathon in Bangalore and a so-called amateur athlete clock the time of two hours 35 minutes and the Indian newspapers raved about this guy saying it was the fastest debut time by an Indian amateur runner. This was amusing to me because I remember my time in great Britain back in the late 70s and early 80s in my club, Hercules Wimbledon athletic club in London, and there was a guy called Stewart “something” (sorry I forget his last name or his surname), - he was a big guy around 6 feet tall and he must’ve weighed around 75 kg and in his debut marathon at the Harlow marathon he clocked a time of two hours 35 minutes, but the crunch was that he was only running around 35 miles per week. His nickname in the club was “The Ox.”
