This poll really highlights how insane this Columbus regional is going to be. Multiple ranked teams are not going to qualify from that Regional on to State. It’s going to be a bloodbath next week.
District Meet at LCCC (Girls) will be fun!..#3 Westlake, #5 Avon, #9 Medina, #20 Revere, #22 Rocky River, #24 Strongsville. Individually you have Clute and Peer ahead of the competition greatly, with Isham from Strongsville and Reese from Avon the next 2 behind them, who also have some separation from #5 and beyond. I feel like #5-10 there will be a lot of girls who can be within the Top 10
Boys not as lethal team wise as the girls (#8 Medina, #22 Highland), but individually we will some nice racing! Wood from Copley, Bork from Lakewood, Hadler from Highland, and Sebaugh from Medina.
Yep, Pickerington is going to be pretty crazy. In terms of overall strength, it is by far the toughest region this season. After that it is probably Youngstown (NE Ohio), Troy (SW Ohio), and Tiffin (NW Ohio). Other than Mason & St X, SW Ohio seems down this year. And I'm still not sold on St X.
Boys Regional Rankings - 10/20/2022By Doug Binder, DyeStat EditorAnd just like that, high school runners all over the country are reaching the finish line of their seasons as conference, district, regional and state meets dra...
Obviously Mason. I am sold on St. X, they showed me enough at Terre Haute to prove they are a contender. Plus they are a well coached team with a long history of success late in the season. Springboro got beat pretty badly at Terre Haute, but lets not forget this team beat St. X to start the year and has a great pack. I'm surprised the voters have slid them back from 3rd to 9th in two weeks. And don't sleep on Loveland. They are underrated IMHO and very well coached. They could be better than they were last year if they put it all together. I'm not sure why they are ranked so low.
But after that, yes, the SW is down this year. Centerville is a good team, made it a close race with Springboro at GWOC. Miamisburg/East/Turpin/maybe others will fight for the last spot, but any of those teams could end up being last at State if they qulaify.
Usually I feel like the SW deserves to have more than 5 teams to make it. Of course the year they get the 6th team, they don't show up. Figures.
In D3 Boys poll, how is Ottawa Hills still 1? Mt Gilead is red hot and has looked like the most dominant D3 teams for weeks; Ottawa Hills has not run anything worthy of top 5 in D3 in weeks.
The DyeStat regional poll for girls has Davidson as the #3 team in the Midwest. That is interesting given that they're #2 behind Mason in the OATCCC poll.
I certainly don't believe that Mason's Efa Paschka will win the state meet over Katie Clute but I honestly will not be surprised if she challenges for 2nd. This is notable because Passhka is only a freshman. At last week's GMC meet she ran the fastest 5K XC ever by a Mason runner, 17:30, to win the GMC meet. Again, notable given the rich history of Mason XC runners including NCAA XC champion and former professional runner Angela Bizzari, Lauren Wood, Monica Lake, the Brush sisters, Maddie Ullom, Leah Ford, Maegan Murphy, and many more. We will soon be talking about Paschka the same as we have about Bizarri, Clute, Claire Durkin, and some of the other greats that have come out of Ohio. She's going to be a great one.
Another one with huge potential is Paschka's conference rival, Evelyn Prodoehl of Lakota West. Prodoehl was 2nd to Paschka at the GMC meet, finishing in 17:35. She is only a sophomore. The West girls will not qualify to the state meet but Prodoehl should as an individual. Both can be in the top 10 at Obetz.

Agreed. I don't think we'll learn much this week, probably most interesting thing will be to see how healthy Mason and St. X are.
Springboro didn’t look great, Mason didn’t look great at #5 and St. X is way behind Mason. Not a banner day for the southwest teams. If Neuberger isn’t back for the state meet it could be interesting.
If Neuberger gets back I doubt that he will score for the team based on his performance in his last race.
markich ran a 15:57 last year but he wasn’t able to break 16 ever this year. Must be a disappointment Mrozka stepped up after being on JV last year and he’s running in the 15:40s now. And they also got a front runner, something they didn’t have last year. So some really good things are coming out of the mason this year
if they really wanna make NXN through an at large, they do need to close the 4-5 gap though
i think with what they have right now, it should be good enough for a state title

I expected more out of St. X. While Mason was not far off their Terre Haute performance as a team, St. X seemed to be.
Mason averaged 15:41 with a 30 second 1-5 gap at Terre Haute. Today they were 15:43 with a 48 second gap.
St. Xavier averaged 15:55 with a 44 second 1-5 gap at Terre Haute. Today they were 16:13 with a 70 second gap.
I thought Mason had a solid race. I think if they keep racing like that, they will be hard to beat.
St. X is still a top 5 team, but they’ll have to race better than today to be 2nd. Still, I think they have the pieces to do it.
I thought Springboro ran fine. Cedarville is a little slower than VOA where the Cincinnati teams run. They can still be a top 10 team at State, maybe even top 5.
Miamisburg however ran great, where did that come from? If they can replicate that next week, they will be at State.
Likewise, Loveland looked very strong. I had a feeling this team had been underrated. Their guys are trending in the right direction at the right time of the year. Only 9 points away from St. X.
I think those 5 teams I already mentioned should move on to State from Troy. After that, it looks pretty close between Centerville and Turpin for that last spot. With some others not far off.

Please explain your thoughts on why Mason didn't look great? Their avg time was their second fastest this season. They improved themselves since last week on the same course. Allwein was 9th last year at state and a legit contender for a regional title next year who beat them.
