2. Zionsville (S2): They’ve been rolling all season and finished
second behind Carmel in a fantastic race yesterday. Helton gives them a
potential all-stater, and five runners with PRs under 16:00 is a feat only
matched by Carmel right now. In several years they would be fighting for a
title, but Carmel has their best team since at least 2013, and maybe ever.
Their best hope to pull off the upset would be to hope for Carmel’s entire back
end having a rough state meet, and to put their entire pack in the 15-40 range.
I like their chances to finish on the podium as a team for the first time in
school history.
They looked good this week. Getting 5 guys under 16 is impressive. I hope they are not peaking too early.
So maybe Center Grove is trying not to peak early

If they weren't trying to peak early then I don't really see the point in racing nearly every weekend. They'd be better off doing the NCAA-esque option of racing at Brown County, Twilight, either sectional or regional, semi state, and state.
Nobody cares about Center Grove or Carmel. Part of the reason they aren't in a conference is no one wants them, especially Carmel since they are almost twice the size of the 2nd biggest school in Indiana.

Noblesville boys are going to make a good run for the state title next year.
Definitely! Maybe even an NXN berth too.
Can’t count out Carmel though. They got 5 stud scorers this year and 3 of them are coming back. They always seem to find 5 guys. Maybe a freshman who ran a 16:34 will get up with them next year.

Those interviews make it sound like Carmel is going all in on Flashrock next weekend. Makes sense since no longer have a conference meet to prepare for. Hopefully CG will too since they are in the same boat.
Does anyone have a team entry list for Flashrock?

The question is will Carmel top guys run every round of the tournament or take the easy way out and sit out a few weeks. Hard to brag about winning state when you skip out on any rounds and try to call yourself a state champion. Especially on the individual side, it should be required to run every round to contend for an individual title like every other sport.

You mean like football, basketball, and soccer where you can never substitute players?
It's a team sport. If you can get through the rounds with your 5th-10th runners, then you're a strong team. The Shelbyville region is so competitive that those teams need to run their top guys, or they won't make it through. Besides everyone has to put it together and run the race when it counts. No body gets a free pass in Terre Haute.
Yet the sports you listed don't have an individual winner, just the team. Nice try. XC is soft.

Please take this nonsense to IndianaRunner. This thread is for actual high quality discussion
More interesting weekend than I was expecting. Carmel is really freaking good, Center Grove is trending in the right direction, Brebeuf can't seem to get it together, HSE won't be on the podium but they've done a fantastic job reloading, depending on what Brebeuf team shows up at Semi State Guerin might make a return to Franklin Central apparently went up to New Prairie and beat Valpo.

*Guerin might make a return to state
I was at New Prairie this morning. Franklin Central looked really good on a course that isn't known for being particularly fast. I don't have the results in front of me, but I think they put five in the top 20. It wouldn't surprise me if they snuck on to the podium. They will definitely be Top 10. Valparaiso is interesting. I feel like they have some pieces, and if they could just put it all together, they might a longshot podium team. Chesterton also looked really solid and if they can tighten up their gap a bit, I think they might have a chance at Top 10. Penn had a nice pack and should have a real good chance to qualify out of New Haven, while Northridge's young guys were super impressive in the Frosh/Soph race, claiming 5 of the Top 6 spots. They'll be a squad to keep an eye on going forward.

No problem. Wouldn't want to hurt the Hamilton Gods feelings.

It’s not about not hurting the “Hamilton Gods feelings” it’s about not letting the thread get derailed.
And no, I’m not a Carmel fan, and I’m definitely not a fan of their HC
