Yep, the MN girls were awesome!

Lakeville North may have lost to some mn teams that they haven’t lost to all season, but their 5th runner did solid.
Making top 10 in the region is good too
Team results were so interesting today. Expected Dowling to snag the #2 spot but Stevens Point got it over them, great race for the WI team. Wayzata looks so strong here. Minnetonka surprised me a little, 4th place is no joke. #2 team from MN, looked like team we expected earlier in the year. A healthier R.Fries would have given Dowling and Stevens Point a run for their money.
Stevens point had seven guys ahead of all 5th runners except for Wayzata’s. This is crazy. They only got 4th at state last year with 3 seniors, but track season went awesome for them. Their 1-5 are all returning next year too.
Dowling’s 4-5 gap has been big this whole season. This is why Wayzata and Stevens Point beat them.
This race and the state meet taught us how important it is to have a 6th and 7th. Not just a 5th. And having the best runner ever is far from enough for a team to be good
1) If a team has a 6/7, they can displace another team’s 5th and give them more points. Like Stevens Point did to Dowling.
2) If a team has only 5 guys, although it’s all it takes to score, it can be very risky. Rosemount showed that at state and NXR. Their 5th dropped back many places which put the team out of contention
But still, this was arguably the best team that Rosemount has ever had. The same can be said for Minnetonka.
Bennett MH did get second - switched tags

Heard that Dowling’s 5th man ran with only 1 shoe the whole race. Truly exemplifies the importance of having a 6th and 7th

3. We saw how important it is to have a quality 6th or 7th runner. Someone is always going to have an off day and it puts so much more pressure on the 5th runner, especially when things are not going well. Rosemount 5th had a tough day and that was too bad. Wayzata's Dietrick gets the fastest 5th guy award.
At the 2019 MN state meet, it was the right time to notice that importance too. Mounds View’s 5th runner fell down mid race. But got back up and ended up finishing it. So their regular 6th really stepped up and became their 5th that day and helped the team win their first state title ever by 1 point. Another thing that shows that having just 5 studs is not enough.

Could a HS Garry Bjorklund win the AAA division at the State Meet this year?
Any relation to chaska grads Gavin (2013 alum), Parker (2018 alum) and Carter (2015 alum) Bjorklund?

What about Breker?
Mankato East improved so much over the years
In 2013 they got last in every race
I remember seeing a video in 2018 where the coach said that they started running twice a day
Breker made nationals for champ sports
When was the last time that a guy in MN who won state didn’t make NXN/NTN? Last year doesn’t count since there was no NXN
Maish from Bemidji ran a 16:20 at RunningLane
Not seeing any MN teams signed up there though
