Rosemount and Lakeville North have the fortune of being in the sections that aren’t as strong as 2 and 6. They can tempo all the way through to save themselves for state / NXR and still win the section or make state

Fergus Falls boys - first time at the state meet since ‘98
Pretty interesting story here
They expanded to 3 Classes. Everyone gets in now.
Does he look like this guy? If so we may possibly see a team with their first state title and NXN berth
Winona Cotter boys team wins 1A. First state berth since 2013. No need for freshman Jamison Ping
2 more sections today with some of the best teams in Class A...6A on Wayzata Results and 8A on Heros Timing
Biggest question is how close Park Rapids can be to Perham
Also, we get to see Jade Rypkema as she gears up for what should be an epic duel with Amanda Overgaauw for the Class A girl’s title.
I think the Class A state winners will be Heritage Christian. This will be their first time. Didn’t make state last year but it’s a tough section. They lost no one, but Perham lost McCleary.
Wouldn’t be surprised if HC, Perham and PR all podium at state
Perham has a solid 9/10 class. they could be competing with some of the top AAA teams in 2 years. A decade ago they were able to
Only other team that could break up that top 3 is Luverne.
Perham is just losing 1 senior for next year...yeah they will be scary good the next couple years
Park Rapids is getting good and has some depth as well with a lot of young runners coming aboard. Section 8A is today and includes both these good teams.
Rosemount is calling themselves the Long Green Line. Should this slang still be relevant?
Cause there’s rumors that York might not state this year. For the first time since 1963. Can anyone imagine. We will find out tomorrow if that is the case. They haven’t even won state since 2012.
Might not make* state
Just reposting this in order to keep all the MN XC stuff under one thread so our state doesn't get banned from LR for starting too many threads.
With regards to the 3 team battle for the 3A championships.
I think it is such a treat to have 3 great teams battling it out for the championships.
1. Lakeview North is undefeated this year against Minnesota teams and that is has to carry some weight. They have run fast times as a team and have beaten Rosemount twice recently. They have showed consistency all season and have remained healthy. They have a low stick which comes in handy in championship races. They have never won a championship which really means nothing in terms of helping them, it just would be cool to see them finally get one.
2. Rosemount has been progressing nicely and seems to be peaking at the right time. Like LVN, having a senior heavy team can be an advantage at these championship meets. They have a very tight pack which can make up for not having a low stick. Seniors seem to run with more desperation knowing there is no next year. Also like LVN, not having a strong 6th man means everyone has to be on. There is great strength when a team can run together and encourage each other on during the hard parts of a race. They are also looking for their first championship.
3. Wayzata is the team most people outside of Wayzata would like to see beaten. Unlike LVN and RM, they are not looking for their first championship, they are looking to continue their place at the top. When a team has been there and is expected to win - they surprisingly do more often than not. Wayzata comes with a low stick and a very solid team. Their team is spread out so pack running is not likely to happen. Unless their injured fifth runner returns, they will be in the exact same boat as the other two teams - a very strong five. They don't have the advantage of relying on a team of seniors, but most of the team ran last year and won.
Minnetonka has been included in this discussion by a number of their fans - but haven't proven that they belong in the conversation. The other teams have performed, Minnetonka chances rely on doing something they haven't done - run fast times by their whole team equal to the other 3 teams. That being said - anything can happen and they do have a very low stick, but the other 3 teams have actually run the times and are not relying on more than one team member to PR by a large amount.
This is really going to be exciting. There will be some key match ups during the race as the RM will need to put 5 before Wayzata and LVN 4. Can't wait!!
Rypkema 18:09. Perham and Hawley girls
boys race started
boys race is going
By doing the math on the boys side it looks like:
Perham - 42
Park Rapids - 48
Park Rapids has 3 boys with the same last name in the lineup
Lame take. Plus at least we're not like Iowa, they have 4 classes!
