Owen Lindseth
Shane Griepetrong
Jakob McCleary
Finn McCormick
Daniel Vanacker
Griffin Ward
Now that most of their top 7 are gone, I wonder if any of those guys will compete as true freshmen this coming fall.

I wonder which one of these 5 made this post, lol
They have one of the largest freshman classes or they had one of the largest freshman classes?
Griepentrog could be your next blue collar hero in Minnesota. He and Ward were #02 and #03 best seniors out of Wisconsin. #01 in Wisconsin was actually Yordanos "Yordy" Zelinski. He is a ticking talent time bomb for whomever he runs for in college. He has 49/1:51 speed and plenty of room to get stronger. I could see him running a 7:46 3000 at some point in the next four years. Watch out.
Every freshman is much larger than the average freshman. 6'5" and up. They are the largest freshman class.
How about listing their times?
There was also a runner from Montana who committed, Tanner Klumph.
After cutting indoor track are they fully committing to being a distance school with cross country and outdoor steeple/5k/10k? Seems a tough sell to bring any sprints/field event people to just do outdoors, in a place where the weather doesn't get nice until May, and the indoor track isn't anything special.
They did sign the top 400 meter runner in the state, so there is still some room for sprinters.
For Minnesota? What did he run ... 53 seconds?
From what I can tell, the Gophers only have five guys back from last year. They have a couple of injuries and two guys with eligibility are going to grad school elsewhere.
From what I've seen (in races, leading the pack) Minnesota does not stack up when it counts, ultimately the team has too much mid distance speed. Now real educated runners will know that Michigan when not gobbling has the greatest well rounded set of runners the NCAA could put together (inside and outside the conference). anyone who disagrees feel free to share your input. but you may be seen as a mere simpleton.
Finally someone is saying what should have been said a long time ago. Time and time again Minnesota fails to perform where it counts. Their high focus on mid distance speed is surely a large cause of these poor performances, but are there more factors at play here that most people are failing to see? I personally think that the locker room incident from 2020 has caused a deterioration of the team from the inside, the guys just don’t seem to have the brotherly trust that they used to have in each other. As for Michigan, they have no potential whatsoever and may as well move down divisions. Joke of a program.
Minnesotans do better when they leave the state. Joe Klecker, Isaac Basten, Emily Covert.
as Lyckety Splyt said in 8 mile
”This guy's a choke artist, ya catch a bad one
You're better off shooting yourself with Papa Doc's handgun”
Now I can’t say for certain what Mr. Splyt was conveying in his message. But what I have gathered, it’s safe to say he was referring to Minnesota front loading a track team, subsequently cutting it, and getting happy meal’d with the free toy at the big 10 championship.
Plasencia was a good runner, but an egomaniac as a coach.
The real virtuous coach was Griak even in his 70s. Plasencia wasnt the same person.
I dont dislike Plas he shoulda just been a legend that visited every season dinner. Not coach 100% of the time.
yeah talk around the big ten even made its way to our squad that Plasencia was a presence in the room. Truth is though that those boys just cant compete with the men in the conference (outside of osu obvi) I just dont see the fight in those guys that I do with the other teams. it must come from the top down now that you mention it
Feel bad for whichever member of the Minnesota team posted this and ended up getting their whole program out on blast, if you’re still coming back to the thread at this point… sorry buddy
Everyone needs to see it at some point. Maybe they’ll get their heads out of their asses and actually compete this fall. (my hopes are not high because they lack the talent and motivation)
I think the Hasz twins would have something to say about that.
