Your missing my point. Of course Teare is better than Fisher at 1500, but yesterday was a bit of a crap shoot. You realize that Jonathan Davis got second place? Teare was able to maneuver and made it to the line first because it was a weak field and he got lucky that his boxes were not fatal. It was a bit of a sh-T show and Fisher would have had a chance. I’m not sure where you are getting this idea that Fisher can’t run 50 sec or 1:50? Has he tried in any recent race? Today, Fisher broke the field a mile out. It was a classic 5000 beat down and no, Teare could not have hung with him. He does not have Fisher’s strength over that distance today. Fisher is two seconds slower than Teare at 1500, well Fisher is 13 seconds faster than Teare over 5000, probably more.
You didn't even watch Teare's 5k. If your poor a$ can afford a flotrack subscription, get one and watch it. Teare was smooth and comfortable running 13:06 and only switched gears the last 100m. 4:03 last 1500 is nothing for Teare, he's run a 3:48 1600.
You are simply proving my point. Jager was in the race. NO chance Teare can win such a race over Fisher. None. Yesterday there were 4-5 guys no better than Fisher at 1500 that almost won and might have if things didn’t open just right for Teare.
Wrong. Teare even with mistakes and not sandbagging the race like Thompson who was just running to beat guys with the standard (admittedly) was able to decisively win. Lot of things went wrong for him and he is high quality so he has daylight in a slow race. That was a terrible racing prospect for Fisher who from lane 1 could maybe run 52.2. Forget it if he had to weave through people. A sprinter he is not.
+1
We can disagree about Fisher having a shot at the team (for the record I never said he would make it, just that he could), but there’s zero chance he beats Teare regardless of how that final played out.
That was a GREAT race. Hard to believe Fisher lost to Klecker. That won’t be happening again. Fisher is back in the medal conversation. Nur, what a turn around after the stinker at NCAAs. Mantz beats Chelimo? 🤣🤣 Was that work out you tube a forgery??
I always wonder if YouTube athletes BS rest time.
16x400m at mile pace with 1 minute rest just seems impossible to me. I’ll do 16x400m at 5k working to 3k with 2 minutes (lap) and that beats me up pretty good.
You're doing a stupid workout. Cut your recovery to a short walk and less than 1 minute recovery so you start the next lap every 2 minutes.
The whole Ethiopian team, Kimeli, Krop, Kiplimo, and Cheptegei can all run that pace comfortably and still close a lot quicker than 60. I can see him beating two of those on a very good day so I think 5h is his ceiling in the 5k. I honestly think Kincaid is a better medal prospect in the 5k since there's always the chance the race goes slow and he has good foot speed
Fisher has good foot speed. I don’t know why people deny this. Dude could’ve made the 1500m team for sure, and if he wanted to be a world level 1500/800m guy I bet he could.
Fisher could possibly be world level in the 1500, but also grouping in the 800m is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, he has good foot speed and good form, but he lacks the power to run a world-level 800 or to close a race at a world level pace in a tactical 1500m...Just think back to college when he would get his doors blown off by McDonald or when Kincaid would definitively outkick him. Fisher running the 800m would look like what Jakob does, just less impressive....

It’s not about closing in 60, it’s about closing in low 4:0x in 90 degree heat. You don’t think that puts him in the mix? Underestimate Fisher if you want….
It's about closing in 4:0x with a 54 second last lap in 90 degree heat...
Yeah, it's like people just look at stats here and don't even run. Meanwhile I'm struggling to run within 30 seconds of my tempo pace in 90 degree heat. Very Impressive Grant. that 12:53 was obviously no fluke as he has proved over and over. Obviously, time is not the goal right now, but he could definitely dip under 12:50 in good conditions.

If you watched the race, he also did a 17th one, then raced that one goofball that paces him in a 200. Bad move. Might have been his race right there.

You're assuming he will beat Jakob as well? Pretty bold prediction there.

“Back in the medal conversation…”
East Africans have entered the chat…
His 12:53 from indoor would rank 5th in the world outdoors right now. I think Grant will be just fine and he is absolutely a medal contender.
There is no doubt that Grant is a medal contender. However, he is in no way a lock for anything. The Kenyans, Ethiopians, and Ingebritsen along with Grant should made it an awesome race. I do not think it will be tactical, somebody will push to Pace
No chance he medals. He's won a total of 1 US Champs. Can beat an American-only field on his best day. Some chance (<100%) for a top-10 against the best in the world.
