I’ve heard he talked with them but I was under the impression it wasn’t moving forward. Would be surprised if he was getting much pay…
Did they fact check his resume?
There is no world where he lands a prime D1 coaching job. Zero chance.
His resume? Of coaching the greatest HS boys xc team ever? I think he's certainly qualified and if he wants to do college, he needs a college jobs as so many college ADs . They think "Only D1" when they don't realize a track coach who understands running should excel at any level and with any sex - HS, college, pro, male or female.
Now Notre Dame doesn't pay well. But to me this makes A LOT of sense if Brosnan wants to get into college. Now, he may not want into college and may be thinking, "My god if adidas is dropping like well north of $500,000 on two runners who can't even make the US 1500 final (Kessler/Hunter), why dont they pay me $150k a year to coach the next group of HSers they have go pro?"

It doesn’t make sense and it’s not in the realm of happening.

Do you realize how shallow the coaching pool is? I know a lot of people think you have to take the volunteer assistant > paid volunteer at small school > coach at small program > D1 coach route, but “years experience” is nowhere near as important as a proven track record of developing athletes.
What else are schools like Notre Dame, Ole Miss, or Oregon going to do? Poach another A-list D1 coach from another program? They would be foolish to not see the allure of bringing in a guy like Brosnan, who you would think would have no problem taking a recruiting class of sub-4:05, sub-14:20 guys and making them a podium contender.

Hi resume of coaching for a grand total of 6 years, 3 of which were coaching the greatest high school team ever, comprised of 2 sets of brothers? He doesn't have any other coaching experience that has been confirmed. There is no evidence he officially coached anywhere else other than coaching his wife. Find some actual documented evidence he formally coached a single day anywhere else.
Do you know how many other coaches there are across the country who have extensive backgrounds as competitors from big time programs, who have put in the time as graduate assistants, unpaid assistants, recruiting coordinators, etc who would be in line for a job like ND?
Coaching college is more than writing workouts for a dozen kids. He has no experience with any other aspect of college coaching and the fact that he has been turned in to CIF 15 times for rules violations probably indicates he would have issues with compliance at a big time college. He can claim they are all BS, but chances are there is truth to at least some of them and everyone knows CIF doesn't enforce rules.
How many big time programs are going to hire a coach with 6 years of high school coaching experience, who happened to have 2 sets of brothers that are in the very top tier of the best in high school history?
Don’t understand why people think this is so unrealistic. Carlson was coaching high school at Saint Charles North before coming to ND. My understanding is he only had a very brief stint assistant coaching at a d3 level before that. Doesn’t seem that unlikely that a much more qualified coach like Brosnan could land the same gig

Yeah, that’s really going to make Swarbrick break down his door with offers.
I could see Swarbrick thinking outside of the box bringing in a guy like this as an assistant to Sparks, but this position wouldn’t even be 6-figures. He’s probably making more to coach Newbury Park than he would get at Notre Dame.

Are you serious? The open “gig” is not the one that Sean Carlson got when he arrived at Notre Dame.

He’s noT making jack at NP. He’s a part time teacher with a small coaching stipend.

Thought he was a full time teacher. I stand corrected.
