That was not a tactical race. That was a painfully slow slog followed by a one mile sprint. Since none of the top three had that great kick in college, I guess we will have to wait and see.
You say it is slow and then you are so impressed by a fast last mile. Maybe those two things are related. A sub 14:50 5k runner can run a hard last mile off of 2 miles over 16:00 pace. That’s not a surprise.
You live in the present when she does well but then live in the future when she does poorly. It is a coping mechanism. She ran in the race. She shouldn't have run if she was outclassed. Most 20 year old women never get faster. So the odds are that she won't either. I encourage you to look at the top 100 college runners over the past 10 years and you won't be encouraged about Tuohy's future.
Yawn. Yes, I judge an athlete realistically based on present circumstances. Age. Experience. Progression. You should try it. As opposed to having feigned unrealistic expectations and then feigning disappointment on top of it? You really expected a 20 year old to contend in the 5000, particularly with the BTC machine, against runners 6-10 years older than her? But the goalposts always move. And the top three outclassed the entire field, although Kelati gave it a go. As to the future, when she turns pro and starts the pro game we will find out. Maybe she will join BTC. Lol. But her college times compare quite well. And btw, stop trying to be clever, as if you have a clue. You don't.
You should point out misstatements I have made instead of resorting to insults. You can't. It is just as likely that she is no faster 5 years form now than she is today. Yes a few women improved greatly but just as many got slower and many stayed the same. Most top Americans made huge improvements from age 16-22 while Tuohy has made small ones.
Interesting theory. Meanwhile Cranny barely improved at all through 4 years of college. Her top 1500 was 4:09, which she ran as a freshman and a senior. Her 3000 times were static, with her best time run as a freshman. Her 5000 pr was 15:49. But look at her now. Thankfully you were not around to write her off in college. It is almost as if each athlete is different.
Anyway in the past year Tuohy went from prs of 4:12 to 4:06, 9:01 to 8:54 and 15:37 to 15:14. Not too shabby.
Norris? She’s the most overrated nobody in the sport. Had some great races last year when no one showed up. But absolutely sucks when the competition is fierce.
runbuggy and crowley are bigger fans of Norris than semihaze is of Tuohy. Who woulda thought
And you care why? Spending you day Stalking threads ?
