De Grasse is in trouble. 10.2 is fine to run in April. But it's almost June now and he hasn't even ran the world standard in any event. He looks extremely tight every race. No flow.
Hocker went from getting beat by Sam Tanner and Neil Gourley to being right there with Kipsang and Cheriyout. Crazy how one week can change everything.
Why wasnt Kerr in this race? Isnt this in his backyard? Hocker/Teare been taking the brunt of the flak for not racing internationally, but Kerr is easily the worst offender.
Just a difference in experience at this level between the Oregon boys & Jakob. Jakob led but controlled his effort. Didn't have to worry about finding room to move. The big kick stuff is flashy in a 3:36 race @ USAs but isn't gonna matter as much in a fast race like this. Still have shots to medal. Would also say Kerr is prolly feeling better after watching this race.
It's easy to look good and go to the front early to keep out of trouble when you are clearly a better runner.

This is why the 1500m isn't fair. Just because Jakob is faster than them he gets a head start for the final lap. It's time to either let American runners have a handicap on the start line or introduce a new rule that they can't run so fast for the first 1100m.
Jakob told norwegian tv he felt good, nice to be back in competition again. Knows what he has to work on the next weeks, more important stuff coming... Bislett Games middel of June, then WC... Happy with having his two brothers around, says they are a good team that takes new steps together.
Jakob is too good. Hocker should have been second but his positioning was terrible in the last 250. He looked like he has the strength to kick much harder
Thats what you get for never running international meets.
This was an International meet run locally. And there is a big one coming up if he qualifies, also being held locally.

I dont know why it is important where it is held, but yes this was an international meet. But the experience he gained today is kind of hard to apply for todays meet.

Pretty classy for Jakob to go up to all the runners after the race, and have a few words with Sahlman it seems
