I am a college assistant coach making 15k a year. My wife makes about the same. We have been doing fine like this for the last couple of years, but we are expecting a baby in the spring and I know finances are going to be very tight. She won't be able to work for a while after the pregnancy and even if she does go back to work I don't like the idea of daycare, and I don't know that we could even afford it if I did. To complicate matters, I am currently obtaining my Masters in Phys Ed., which will be done in about two years and she is also back in school. I've thought about getting a second job, but coaching responsibilities take up a siginificant amount of time (about 60 hours a week). I know some of you might be thinking that I should appy for another coaching position, but the good jobs are extremely competitive and I really love the school that I'm at and the athletes that I work with. Are there any coaches on the boards that went through a similar situation? How did you make it work?
