I heard he won the world series Razz championship in the mid 1980s. Can anyone confirm this? A friend of mine who is big into poker but not running says JK defeated Stu Unger then went into retirement from poker.

Don't see his name on here
John Laudon = John Kellogg.
Supposedly, Kellogg/Laudon just got burned out from the game, didn't have the passion for it and just gave it up after winning the Razz championships. With all the money in poker now a days he should make a comeback. Pays better than coaching for sure but if he doesn't have the desire he doesn't have the desire.
No, but Rexing won the championship event--and, yes he was wearing trainers.
I saw that other thread on wejo and the poker which i'm not sure i believe. But perhaps JK coached him at poker as well?
he should make a comeback.
seems like a lot of runners also play poker. We should have a letsrun championship
Jason Rexing actually won the main event twice without even looking at his hole cards once. He just used his supernatural ability to look inside his opponents minds and played accordingly, moving all-in whenever he sensed fear. His play was so above the playing field that he set Phil Hellmuth on tilt 3 times. The last time he set Phil Hellmuth on tilt, Phil fell to the ground bawling like a little girl and pulled out all his hair.
Is it true that Razz is the purest game of poker with the most skill involved? Perhaps JK is a purist and will not play the other games. I swear I heard a rumor one time about some guy refusing to play hold em and only play Razz, the "truest" game.
JK, with his ultra-productive and busy lifestyle, has no time to meddle in such a game as razz or poker. He routinely stays up past 6 o'clock (am) working very hard. The man is a model citizen and an inspiration to all who witness his genius.
It's high time we revealed the truth...John Kellogg and Jason Rexing are in fact one in the same.
Begin propagating the legend.
I don't know if John was a Champion Razz player but I know he won LOTS of money in our dorm. At Baylor, I lived a few rooms down from John. Back then, he was more to himself running and playing Razz. His roommate and I use to joke a lot about his card playing skill claiming that he had an unfair advantage due to his majoring in applied mathmatics. I must have lost at least a couple hundred dollars to John.
I thought I heard a rumor that Rexing is actually JK's son--his initials are JR. Perhaps in a brilliant moment of clarity, Rexing was born to redeem all of us. He died in his trainers, so that the rest of us could talk for all eternity about his greatness. Amen.

I said propagate legend, not blasphemy you foul-mouth cur. Letsrun.com is a hopeless wasteland of illiterate dopes and remains so to this day.
It's not blasphemy if you are a heathen. So chill out, O'Reilly.

That's inane. That's like saying that if I tossed you off the roof of a skyscraper, it wouldn't hurt you if you didn't believe in gravity. Think before you speak. Seriously.
Speaking of mixed terms. One's a philosophy, the other is a law of nature.
Hold on. We are getting off topic. Is Rexing JK's love child? Wait a minute. Thats not it. I meant to say, did he or didn't he (he being JK) win a 80's poker tournament?
