I'm with Waytonk on this one. For LetsRun to make sport of Terre Haute is strange for a site dedicated to distance running. 99% of the people who went to the races had a blast, and 99% of the people who visit this website would have liked to have been in Terre Haute last Monday.
The Terre Haute/ISU consortium that decided to build a fan-friendly, national caliber XC course in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield are visionaries on the same scale as the BroJos. The brothers should be identifying these pioneers by name and saluting them.
Instead of taking potshots at the town, why doesn't Grote regale us with stories from the race itself? Didn't he schmooze with the fans and competitors at the course and come away with a lot of good stories? Did he actually watch the races and notice a lot of cool stuff, or did he write his story by looking at the results?
If his buddy Brass Knuckles wants to have a good time on a football Saturday night, he can do that many places. On this site, though, we like XC, and the NCAA nats are one of our marquee events. Terre Haute, bland as it may be, has done a pretty good job putting on a fantastic event.
