How do the tinman guys post on social and train all day? are these guys just coming from wealthy family

I wonder that with Tinman's boys but also Mary Cain and others. I think she was a pre-med student too, plus her family was wealthy (NYC suburb) to boot. So even if she failed she'd always have a place to land and connections to keep her from falling into middle-class or working-class status with the rest of us peons.

Sam's contract with Adidas is up this year. He is currently trying to show the brand his worth so he can get resigned (source I believe is Emma A's podcast with him recently). He is probably banking on some of his non-performance based attributes to push him over the edge with Adidas in order to get another contract. His track times alone are probably not going to get him there but the relatively large social media presence and the role as Tinman's creative director(?, he designs a lot of the stuff?) might do it.

Reed (and Drew of course) also has a contract with Adidas outside of the Tinman team sponsorship the other team members have (not sure about Goose). He also ran quite well at Boston so things are looking promising for him on the contract renewal front (not sure when his is up).

I believe Parsons also gets a few thousand per year from German athletics for being one of their Olympic level athletis. Nothing life changing, but combined with some cash from Adidas, some prize money and maybe a bit of money from his German club I can see how those 4 revenue streams add up to a liveable wage

Price money? How does that add up? I mean, he rarely wins anything (I know he won some local turkey trout recently).

On their channel I heard some of them say that they actually work for a living, so I think most of them have a job (not parsons and hunter probably).

Let's say on average he makes $500-1000 in prize money for 3-4 road races per year. Add in maybe a few hundred bucks appearance money for each of those. Then on the track, prize money maybe a bit less, around $500 (assuming he's competing mostly in silver and bronze level meetings), with roughly the same amount in appearance money 4-5 times per year. All up, it's not enough to live on, but I think it could realistically be around $5000 per year in a good year which contributes to his other ways of making money.

Another revenue stream would also be YouTube - I don't know how many views they get or how it's shared amongst the group, but that could also add a few thousand per year? Plus merch sales. I can start to see how he gets by without a job, even if it's not the highlife

The group (Tinman Elite) probably hires someone part-time to make social media posts. It's a whole industry now.

Meanwhile, most posters on these boards still think kids can "pick up a paper route" to make some extra cash. Way behind the times.

Parsons does come from a wealthy family. I think he has a Tesla…not something you’re driving on a low-level adidas contract. For a while, a lot of the Tinman guys all lived in Drew’s house. Not sure if that’s still the case as he gets older. Reed had a real job for a while before he signed with adidas.

Rich or not, purchasing a Tesla is an impulse buy and to show off. Super dumb. That purchase will come back to bite him.

I retired at 47 and have 3 kids who I could provide for if they wanted to be full time runners. I never earned more than $150k and my wife earns $50k.

Parsons went to the The Tatnall School, upper school tuition is currently approximately $28k. I'm sure his family has money.

I know a guy who was no where as good as most of these guys (he was the last OT Steeple qualifier one time).

He got $4000.00 and free gear from Nike.

His appearance fees at road races was generally $1000.00 to $2000.00 plus expenses.

He told all of this after his very short pro career ended.

Add in the prize money and he said he COULD have survived for a while but he had to pay his agent a %.

He told me that his coach got a % of his winnings only- if he didn't get prize money or appearance fees his coach didn't get paid and his coach also coached college.

I think some of these guys make more than it seems they make but I DO think that the lack of racing hurts them.
