E. Africans drop all the time when they are out of money contention and are not feeling it. It is a smart move if you want to sustain a pro running career.
Bummer! I hope she's okay, and regrouped for a strong world champs. I'm sure it's disappointing to dnf at Boston, a race that means a lot for her, but I have no doubt she'll come back strong.
She’s talented and tough. The best American, for sure. But let’s keep a bit of perspective. Prior to his marathon success, Lopes was an Olympic silver medalist in the 10,000 and three-time gold medalist at World Xcountry. And while I hate to be that guy, it’s instructive to compare Seidel’s times (5k and up) to Benoit Samuelson and Kastor’s.
Yeah, she was out at 18. Which USA Cable couldn't tell us until the race was over, just like they couldn't tell us where Fauble was ...and a long list of other things they didn't tell us. I've generally withheld complaining about this kind of stuff in the past but it's getting to be inexcusable. All that;s required is the recognition that this stuff matters. Technically, I wouldn't cost much at all. I wonder what happens at staff meetings when anyone brings this up.

^^ This. The coverage was embarrassing, unless you were really into the wheelchair races. Then you gotta be thrilled. Perhaps the Brojos have the standing to pass on some helpful suggestions to the broadcasters, or insist on taking it over themselves.

NBC/Peacock coverage was HORRIBLE. Their camera connection/resolution dropped on and off the entire time.
Do better NBC or allow someone else to cover the race.

They face an impossible task.
The biggest problem is the race organizers consistently refuse to start the races far enough apart. Once race should end with when the other is at halfway.
. It's very hard to broadcast 4 sporting events at once and today they tried to do 6 as they threw in some mile coverage as well.
As a fan, it's also very unenjoyable to try to watch more than 1 sporting event at once.
As a fan, do you ever watch two sporting events at once for other sports? I doubt it. There is a reason why PIP used to be big thing on tvs and now is an afterthought. When it waws invented, "Everyone was like this is so cool." Now you never see it advertised as people realize it's a miserable experience to watch two things at once, let alone 6.
MLB..tv has multiple game streaming capability. I watch multiple games all of the time. Peacock had their mosaic today, but the connection to their servers was bad. Resolution was good on and off. Mostly off. For a major media company, as is Comcast, they can do much better!

Bummer, really hope she’s okay. It’s 26.2 miles. So many things can go wrong. Just getting to the start line of a marathon when you put in the kind of volume and work that an elite does is impressive. I hope she isn’t too upset about this. She’s young and has many more marathons in front of her. Heck, she has had all very impressive near perfect marathons before this. Statistically speaking, you can’t nail them all! Also, no one can argue against an Olympic medal. She's an amazing runner. Hope she isn’t hurt and bounces back quick.

It is a common practice to keep an eye on multiple sporting events simultaneously if you have a wager on all of them. This is especially true since 2018 when the Supreme Court opened the door for any of the 50 states to legalize sports betting.
One cannot help but wonder if she was concerned with being tracked. This poor woman should not have to be forced into a situation where a creeper could actually be privy to her location. The safest option was to drop out. Sometimes prudence is the better part of valor.
