Post 4:00.95 mile interview:
Love these two guys. Should be a great battle, looking forward to an outdoor season of these two guys duking it out.
I will take the over 4:00.00 and sit back ....
Martin posts ALL his training on Strava—it’s not much. Just started running in 10 grade, probably averages about 35-40 miles per week. Not uncommon to see him run 25 mile weeks. No really tough workouts-just routine tempos and moderate intervals. Rarely does long runs and routinely takes off days. I really question if there has ever been a more naturally talented runner in US history. Hobbs Kessler might be close. Galen Rupp and Ritz ran more intensely in one month of HS training than Martin probably has in his 2-1/2 year career!!!! If this kid stays healthy and builds up mileage in college watch out!
Thanks for the Strava mention.
Nice training. Wow his tempos are under 5 minute pace.
I hope the Penn race will be available for anyone to see on Youtube.
Regarding his training, he did a good interview with Scott Burns (Downingtown West coach) the Run on Culture podcast a few months back. I know Burns has a lot of them up on Youtube, but that one may be audio only. I can't find it on Youtube to link. If you search on your podcast app, you can find it.
And to the poster who said that people in the Philadelphia area love him, they couldn't be more accurate. At the state meet in the fall, my girls team was watching his every move and so excited to go watch his race after they were done theirs. Tons of kids taking pictures with him after his races.
Good for him. I predict he’ll sub 4 this year, not that that’s a hot take. He’s a nice guy and I wish him nothing but the best, love to see a PA guy tearing it up
