Yes seriously bro being world class has nothing to do with how much money you make... it's simply has to do with world ranking... There is plenty of people who are world class in things and just don't make a lot of money, because it's not a big money sport... As someone else said I think a fair criteria would be being ranked high enough as the amount of athletes who make the Olympics in your events.... which is usually around 60 as a rough guess
Oh wow it's 48, I was being hyperbolic, clearly shows you're an idiot because she's ranked top 48 in the world
And has been for the last 2 years you moron! Therefore in every definition of the word she is world class! Nice job being an idiot!
Lol okay buddy. Maybe someday you'll follow and understand the sport.
Yeah okay buddy why don't you move on and keep what little shred of dignity you have left
You're obviously wrong and just looking for any little tidbit to slink away and claim victory
She's been top 50 in the world for the last 2 years... And there's about 50 runners every Olympic cycle who compete on the world stage... Sorry that you can't see the obvious
She is still not a top flight miler, but she is getting closer. A year ago she was barely hanging on the last 200 to run 4:12-4:15. Now, a decent finish.
Yeah but who knows apparently she didn't run that hard and it was a tactical race
I mean Myers is a strong pro who runs for Nike so...
Tuohy probably getting smarter and not going to burn herself up early like Orton did last year
yes she didnt run that hard today, she ran smart and then closed hard... if katelyn does not lean on the finish, its not an all out effort ;)) a really good opener and confidence booster beating pros at your home turf w lots of audience

If she ran for any other country in the world besides the USA she would have made the Olympics
Thus world class level runner... Is the logic starting to Dawn on you
Gotta love the LRC Gatekeepers of the World Class. Rojo, you've infected the website with your posts about how much better Mary Cain's 2-mile was than Tuohy's 3000 high school record!
Yeah okay buddy why don't you move on and keep what little shred of dignity you have left
From the genius who thought 100 women ran in the Olympic 800m. Later, loser.
Oh is that what we were arguing about? I thought we were debating the definition of world class? At least you didn't look for some excuse to avoid admitting you're completely wrong? Nice job being a man about things!

I can't help thinking about how she was arguably the best high school runner ever and pretty much never ran a negative split. It's hard to criticize the coach of such a legend, but I'm actually surprised that she wasn't injured more than she was with the way he encouraged (or at least allowed) her to red-line all the time.
Actually her coach was really good and told her every practice to slow down... He would set realistic pacing and tell her not to run faster than that...
But what can he do for races he can not get out there and block her from running fast
It's just what athletes want to do they want to see how fast they can run...
I think a lot of the chasing records was crazy as a lot of those runners ended up injured or almost all of them
Yeah the fact that she would have made the Olympic 800 m for every other country in the world! Is synonymous with world class!
Maybe not for Great Britain but agreed she is world class
Agreed! I was being a little overly simplistic... But more just pushing back on this crazy notion that you have to be top 10 in the world to be world class
I mean the Olympics shoots for about 60 athletes in each event... So being ranked in the top 60 consistently over a couple of years would seem to make you world class...
To me world class just means you have a realistic chance of making an Olympics or world championships. I think top 50 in the world is a good estimate. And then within that range you would have your elite world class runners, average, borderline, and those that are approaching world-class level... I think a lot of people on this site mistakenly think of world class as only like an Olympic final level athlete. But that's why we have adjectives and you can differentiate between an elite world class runner and a middling world class runner. I guess there's a lot of vibe where people want to protect their turf
