The sun is moving as well. Our movement through space is roughly helical. Also, if you want to define noon like that, we’d have to change our clocks daily and the number of new time zones you would need to create would be nuts.

I have had my own business for over 20 years, and have a home office. I am a lifelong dog owner. I awake at sunrise without an alarm clock. Feed the dogs and let them out to chase squirrels and birds.
Time changes mean nothing to mean unless I have a meeting to attend with a client. I don't sleep in on weekends. The sunrise determines the start of my day.
Well, I think us morning runners are of a consensus that we're being screwed out of some daylight run hours over the winter due to this.. Seems like an impingement on my freedom to run in the light. Is this the egregious enough to storm the capital over?
Time and Tide..great post. And seriously , is this even a frigging issue that those nitwits should be voting on? If its really an issue, the PEOPLE of the country should vote on something like this, not 500+ self absorbed people that this literally has no impact on!! I cannot believe they slipped this and another $1.5T spending bill right by us, how did anyone , even those with a huge staff have time to read that completed version. What a crock of s-i-.

Why not? But might need to battle it out with evening runners storming to make sure the change happens.
We should scrap it all and go on (CUT) Coordinated Universal Time. The whole planet is on the same time.
5 am might be the morning where you live, it might be the late afternoon somewhere else, but we're all on the same time.
Zulu Time.
That is used in aviation, sea travel and by the most militaries. The same time exists around the world. No DST. Time is determined at the Prime Meridian (0-degrees), which runs through Greenwich, England. If is is 5 am in Greenwich it is 5 am around the world.
China has a Zulu Time style single time zone that spans 5 adjacent time zones, and determined at Beijing. People do can live with a single time. A meeting time between two distant places requires no time conversion.
Bunch of whiny runners on Twitter crying about how this will “kill” morning runners whahhhhh boo hooo. Whatever get some noxgear adapt like us evening runners have done.

Dang. Looks like the night people have finally won a permanent victory over the morning people. Not excited about doing every workout in complete darkness from October to March.
Adapt. Evolve. Change. Or move to a place with more light in the time zone.
The 1970's horror of stay at home mom's hating having to wake up in the dark to get their kids ready for school. Most mom's have jobs these days and go to work in the dark with, or without a time change.
In my area school starts at the same time whether the parents have jobs or not.

I take it you don't live in northern Alberta-not light here until 9:30 am!
