The US really is the most anti-intellectual of all the Western countries ...

New Zealand has had 65 Covid deaths in total while the US has had nearly 1 million. Things are clearly dire in New Zealand. But if the CDC advice means Americans don't visit - who's complaining?
Yes, well, Singapore very arrogantly announced to the world in August, 2021 that they were the world’s most vaccinated country at over 80%… a shining example to be sure. At the time they had about 60,000 cases and 36 deaths. Now they’re 95+% vaxxed but with nearly 800,000 infected and over 1000 dead. The monthly average deaths from October and November was 10,000 % of the monthly average deaths in the first 16 months. All New Zealand needs to do is wait.

NZ has been dangerous to visit for a long time. Not because you might catch Covid - all Americans have had access to the vaccine since last spring - but because you might get detained for weeks for having had Covid, or worse, for just having been in the same building as someone who had Covid.
NZ saved a lot of lives but only at the expense of trampling on people's civil liberties to the extreme. I understand that for some, their path was the right one. But to me, Patrick Henry's speech still rings true.
Last but not least, it's important to realize for a country with land borders, in order to achieve zero-Covid, we would have had to implement Chinese-style restrictions. NZ's approach, which was authoritarian but much more laid back than China, only worked because they are two islands of 4 million people. We would have needed the even more overbearing Chinese tactics.
Fascism is only the right path for fascists.
The Kiwis I have met in the past were all very nice people. However, the pomposity among Kiwis for their "COVID success story" was pretty intolerable over the last two years or so.
It was pretty obvious, especially when Omicron hit, that it was only a matter of time New Zealand would have to deal with COVID head on instead of hiding from it for years on end.
That being said- I hope New Zealand gets through this COVID rough patch with minimal deaths and sickness.

Are there people who actually want to travel to that racist sh!thole country? Why?
Good question when you can find so much more of it at home in the US.
Ironic that the countries pushing the covid agenda the most have the most problems with covid. This is a political and financially motivated agenda. Why do the poor African nations have next to no covid issues? They don't have the infrastructure to feed into the big fraudma revenue stream and buy vaccines/drugs in bulk.
Why would the pathologically lying politicians actually care about the health of individuals? All they want is a herd to comply so that their authoritarianism can thrive and they can maintain or increase individual status or assets.
New Zealand has taken a significant economic hit in the last 2 years. Their zero Covid charade is a complete bust and they know it.
