Mechaal is no where close to Aregawi. Mecaal couldn't even beat Galen Rupps indoor time.

If you move a bit in the north of Turkey, in Chechenia you will see the most beautiful ladies in the world wearing a scarf while dancing.
He's on the sauce.
2:25 last km is medal winning close.

Nico is still "young" and developing. I think he has good upside, especially after that 3:56.
Salam aleykum:
With regard to Mechaal’s Turkish wife and looking at her profile and world athletics I’m surprised that she is reported to be as highly rated as fifth in the world because her times are in fact quite modest, 4:19, 9:06, 16:00+, 33:00+ etc..... But this is not to denigrate her achievements but just to get things into perspective. She’s definitely not a world-class athlete that’s for sure but in theory everything is possible in the future according to some people. Maybe now that she’s married to a World class athlete, she will receive that magic bullet to go much faster. One thing is almost certain, they will surely produce very fast babies, should they decide to have children and that is very likely as “family” in Islam is an absolute central tenet of existence. The more children, the better, Insh Allah.

7:30 wouldn't be easy even for Jakob. His PB is 7:27 outdoors.
it's faster indoors on the banks. He'd crush it.
And Jakob ran his 7:27 in 2020. He is most likely seconds faster now if at his best.
Jakob is reportedly participating in the World Indoor Champs in March. I suppose he will double the 1500m and the 3000m.
I hope the best East Africans, including Aregawi, Barega, Kejelcha, Wale, Girma and Kiplimo will turn up. Then the 3000m would be a great competition.
Did you forget the limiting number for the amount of athletes that can participate in each event in the World Indoor Championships without a wildcard athlete? It's two. So all those Ethiopians you mentioned won't be able to join into the fun. It seems your excitement took over your logic.
Thanks Ghost1.
It's interesting, we often complain that elite athletes now are all media trained to the point of bland templates in any interviews they give, then Mechaal comes along and is somewhat enigmatic in his conduct and lifestyle and everyone gets suspicious and equates some sort of independent spirit to doping. The whole saga of the sequence of missed tests doesn't help his cred.

Except it absolutely isn't. The best indoor tracks are ca. 0,5s per lap slower than running outdoors.
7:30 ability indoors would be equivalent to 7:25 outdoors.
Mechaal is a 3:30 runner and has stepped his game up massively. It's gonna be no easy task for Jakob to beat him.
She was vice champion of U20 European championship U20.
Any way I have looked at her profil, she is away from the level of someone like Hasna Benhassi.
But that's not the point. She is still young.
I have read in some Spanish articles, that Mechaal got some "family problems" last year before the Olympic games, and now he has fixed them.
Edit.
Place 2 in European U20 Championships.
what does an Algerian born French has to do with this?

Personally I could not care less about his media presence or background. He missed tests, therefore he likely is a doper. End of story. Same goes for Coleman, Thomas, Farah, etc. The excuses do absolutely nothing for me. It's your job to be available for testing at time windows you provide, and you claim you didn't hear the doorbell/were at the grocery store/had your music too loud? I just don't buy it.

Yep, some guy you never heard just ran as fast(er) than a whole load of epo 90s era greats. Nothing to see here. Move along. But I can’t help but wonder what shoes he had on.
If you've never heard of him you don't follow the sport at all.
In the Spanish system no woman changes her name upon marriage. That is a northern European machista custom.

Acknowledging the fast times at Millrose isn't exactly going "ga-ga", it is exactly what is, "acknowledging" fast indoor times (and yes, these are fast times) in January/February. I don't believe anyone posted that the Millrose 3k was a predictor of the world championships results or world records.
I will predict this, Mechaal nor Aregawi will be on the podium this summer in Eugene. I'll actually go further, they won't even be at the world champs. Seriously, if anyone thinks that Mechaal's 7:30 is clean is completely delusional and in NO WAY he will be a factor in Eugene. He'll probably run an amazing 5k or mile within the next month and then be MIA outdoor season.
Jakob is reportedly participating in the World Indoor Champs in March. I suppose he will double the 1500m and the 3000m.
The 3000 final goes sunday morning at 12.05 local time, while the 1500 final goes sunday afternoon at 18.35. So my guess is that Jakob will only focus on the 1500...
