I hope there will be not too many injuries/Covid infection before the race.
Cherono is the favorite here. He already won Boston (and Chicago) in 2019.
Agree

Bekele sub 2. Im calling it.
More like you're smoking it! Did you see Berlin and NY?

Will be an exciting race. The only issue with Boston is if Bekele runs the race of his life and runs under the current world record it won't count as Boston is not world record illegible course.
won't count as Boston is not record illegible course? how many negatives do you put in a sentence and want to make it positive?

I guess this puts the likelihood of and American win somewhere in the 0-.1% range
How about 0-.01%? Kind of like the percentage of catching Covid will kill you?

Bekele has basically retired. I don’t expect him to run fast. If he even finishes it will be a miracle.
Bekele know he is past his prime. Feels like he's collecting appearance fees when he still can! Berlin, NY (2021), now Boston 2022! Maybe he'll do Chicago 2022 for that appearance fee too!
I think that it's cool, and a bit surprising, that Bekele has now been willing to run both NYC and Boston - i.e., something other than flat, fast courses. Sure, NYC was a bust, but perhaps that makes Boston that much more surprising.
I was huge Haile fan, and really wish that he would have run NYC and/or Boston.

He ran respectably in NYC and didn't DNF even though he wasn't in contention for the win. Why the hate?
Was hoping that they'd get Kipchoge... maybe next year? Maybe he'll do NYC... I think he said he wanted to do all the majors. hopefully that can happen while he's still on top of his game and not just showing up for appearance fees.
Hoping that Rupp runs a fast marathon in the spring on an AR eligible course.
It sucks that Kipchoge is not running Boston 2022! When/If London returns in 2023 to April, chances of Kipchoge running Boston decreases! We don't need to see Kipchoge doing another one off like Nike breaking2 or INEOS 159 challenge. He has already conquer that, he needs to conquer Boston!

So what? He does it for a living, doesn’t he? He’s always going to be a draw.

Certainly is. But 2:01 high only about 2.5 years ago. I have no idea what's going on in his world, but if he's still serious, who could be shocked by a win from him on a good day in pretty much any race ?

Crazy that Desisa’s marathon PR is from 2013!
That doesn’t matter because any of his top 4 times gets him in the mix here. Not like he is way past his best.

because he's turning 40 this year.
Well, Kamworor is not even close to the fastest of these guys in the marathon. He lost to multiple guys in the field in Valencia. If he ever puts together a marathon commensurate with his half marathons, watch out, but it hasn't happened yet, and Bekele is amazing at his best, 2:01:41!!!, but he has been at his best only a couple times really in the past 8 years or so.
Many awkward moments in your interview with Mary Shea

2.5 years in your late 30s isn't nothing. But it's equally true that his talent won't evaporate on his 40th birthday.
Bekele winning Boston might be a bit surprising. And certainly a good story. But to any knowledgeable fan, far, far from shocking.

Just for fun, let's say that the stars align for the 2022 edition. Great fields. Cloudy weather in the low 50s. A stiff wind blowing in towards Boston. Someone wins in 1:59 or possibly 1:58. The women's race is won in 2:12.
Greatest marathon race ever or All-time clown course (CIM goes home devastated!)?
Speaking of clown courses. Boston accepted times from Huntsville (downhill course with about 2000 ft of elevation loss) and let in Jason Lynch (legit PR of 2:17:31 from Grandma’s 2019) and Bashash Walio (no sub-2:20 times on a trials eligible course that I can find - fastest is a 2:23 from CIM in 2023).

Did you read the part that says: MEN PERSONAL BEST COUNTRY? Their best, 2:09:09 is topped by 19 other runners. Hope that answers your inquiry.
Next please!
Ha hahaaaaa
You seem to be right 😊😊😂😂😊😂😊
I'm putting my money on Kam to win. He hasn't realised his full marathon potential, and his build up for Valencia was abbreviated somewhat.
