Who underrates him? I have to admit I don't think about AC/DC that much, and never listen to them.

People need to stop saying so and so is underrated when they really mean that they like so and so. It's not as if there's some universally accepted rating system of every single person that you can disagree with.

And yes, real man.
Johnson is a good fit for ACDC but would be awful with anyone else. Kind of like Roth with Van Halen. Johnson actually got the gig after the Young brothers heard him perform while screaming in pain from appendicitis:

Dan Rather did a “Big Interview” with Johnson that’s excellent. It’s worth finding if you’re a fan.

Their previous singer was better and Johnson just has a screechy voice. Now that he's like 70 he doesn't even do that effectively.
This is it.

1) Disagree that Bon Scott was better.
2) I'm not considering his singing ability TODAY. Yes, he is past his prime.
3) Again, he is the most underrated singer in rock.
"Is" is present tense. If you are claiming that he is (not was, but is) the most underrated singer in rock, this claim necessarily considers his singing ability TODAY.
BZZZZZ!
Nope! "Freddie Mercury is the greatest singer in the history of rock and roll."
You do not have to say "was". That would indicate that he WAS once the greatest and is no longer. You're wrong.

MOST people. MOST people on this thread even. He IS one of the greatest rock singers ever, and he is NEVER mentioned in that way...and he should be. I'm not even a huge AC/DC fan...but that dude is an insane singer.
In my dotage, I get a kick out of AC/DC. Not sure if Brian Johnson is under-rated. Save that type of thinking for Fantasy Football choices.
I don’t consider him to be a great singer but neither does he. I saw an interview with him and he is an awesome guy. He knows how to bring the energy. Passion sometimes is everything.
So, bottom line is I think I agree with you.

I agree he is a good fit for AC/DC. Not sure he would be awful with anyone else, but that band would be accused of trying to sound like AC/DC.

What is rock singing most-associated with? Passion. He wouldn't be good at singing pop songs or opera or children's songs. He is a ROCK singer, and at that he is underrated. Glad you agree.

Nah. I'll apply it here. Singers in bands are constantly rated. There are lists. People argue about who the best ones are all the time. He's underrated.
I'm not sure if he's underrated or not, but I enjoy listening to AC/DC.
IMO, he's by no means one of the all-time great signers of rock.
I remember one time you sung the praises of Steven Tyler's voice and I thought you were being too generous. I don't believe Steven Tyler belongs anywhere on the Mt. Rushmore of rock vocalists. Now Steve Perry, that's a different story. He's on my Mt. Rushmore for sure.

Well, you are Exhibit A of why Brian Johnson is underrated.
Now, Steven Tyler IS generally considered to be one of the greatest rock vocalists ever, so he IS properly rated, and you are just flat wrong on him.
There are only two that I for sure put on a Mt. Rushmore:
Steve Perry
Freddie Mercury
All others get there depending on my mood of the day...I mean, there are only 4 slots after all.
Contenders would be:
Robert Plant (he probably always makes it though)
Steven Tyler
Elton John (early before his voice went)
Brian Johnson (likely on the outside looking in)
Steve Winwood (probably biased just based on the fact that he's a musical genius)
First woman:
Ann Wilson (she makes the top 10, but not Mt. Rushmore)
Your taste in music is as lame as your opinions on most every subject. The only one more underrated at giving head, than Freddy Mercury, is my boyfriend Harambe.

he's not even as good as the guy he replaced!
I equate Johnson vocally with someone like Axel Rose. That is to say, powerful vocals but that’s about it. Curious why you think he is one of the all time greats?

Excuse me what? Delete this thread Boomer. How dare you bring down Bon Scott with this absolute pile of garbage post.
