yeah yeah yeah because when training for an 8k you definitely need 8 mile tempos... how'd half marathon training work out for y'all at regions?

To be fair 17th at Nationals is better than not at Nationals.
Had Lavey not had some asthma issues both would have been top 20 for sure. I still think the Oles beat them.
Not sure if the Carls can sh!t on power anymore. Olaf did put 4 under 25 at Nationals, which no other miac team did all season. And with their insane depth, they're probably gonna sweep the floor with Carleton during track. Just sayin
oles were lucky to make nationals, if lavey had more reliable lungs they would be a pretty underwhelming 6th at regoinals and probably would not have gone. the only depth to be found on the ole team is in derk's eyes.
The Oles ran fantastically at regionals and nationals, however their lack of a MIAC title in the last four years despite perennially better recruits than Carleton gives me doubts about their ability to claim themselves the running powerhouse in Northfield.
In other news: Carleton's small, beautiful, mid distance phenom Jeremy Fong took a statistics class this fall and now plans to change his last name to Cook-Gallardo and seek Panamanian citizenship after seeing a strong correlation between those two characteristics and past Carleton runners' 800m times.
el_jefe is definitely some irrelevant bub on Carleton jv. Terrible running takes and memes. Runs his mouth in MIAC threads but probably hasn’t broken 15:40 in the 5k…
same with miac_jeff. I recommend u both actually try training instead of spending your free time overthinking and posting cringey letsrun posts about guys that will lap you in indoor
some “jeffed” takes happening by the carls. and you think we’re cringe?
Carleton is bringing in a Wilkinson-level recruit from Illinois. Word is the Quack Shack lifestyle turned him off of his second choice. Your JV bub squad strikes again Oles.
real ones know that if this recruit is truly “wilkinson level” then he’d have no problem with any and all quack shack activities ;)
And it starts -
I'm hearing that Northfield will opt out of Indoor this year.
Evidence?
Talked to my coach today. He said it's only a matter of time.
Yo chill out Reuben no need to come for their lives like that
Rumor has it that this will be the first season concordia's Daniel Wilson hasn't been injured and has been training really well. I'd be really surprised if he doesn't win the 600. Plus I also heard middendorf is quitting track because he needs to work to pay for grad school. I'm curious who will be the up and coming mid distance runners.
Most of the MIAC opens this week.. who we got?
Looks like St. Olaf is hosting Carleton, should be a solid meet if all distance guys are racing. Gustavus is going to open at Mankato. I'm expecting the Olaf squad led by Logan Bocovich, Carleton squad led by Stephen Lavey to turn in some fast times in the 3k/5k and maybe the mile. Gustavus on the other hand without Stumbo I don't really know who will likely step up to the plate, but let's hope that Casey Olson, Garet Grant are good enough to throw down fast times 3k/5k
Olaf/Carleton meet had some decent performances. Carleton depth in the 3k quite impressive this early on.
Unfortunately not all distance guys ended up racing at the Northfield meet, there were all kinds of Oles missing. We are still awaiting details as to why. Some people have opined that they got sidelined by covid rules, but this seems unlikely for a variety of reasons. Some more plausible reasons for why they weren't there:
a) they decided to boycott the meet in solidarity with bdk.
b) They were running too many miles and Power didn't let them run so they wouldn't get injured.
c) Some stormtroopers were sent to track down Jarjar, so they apprehended him and all the other sophomores and some juniors.
d) Reuben asked them not to show up because he didn't want competition for running or anything else.
If anybody can confirm one of these or if is there is a different reason, please feel free to share.
Northfield is heating up. Kosche and Curtis ran well last night. The Carls all look good in their mile/1000 double. Bocovich has not raced since early December. Could be an injury, or he could just be training right now. Will be interesting to watch how that plays out. The carls have shown time and again they run well when it matters, aside from the rare asthma attack. Will the Oles repeat their Spring 2020 season and run fast in the middle of the season only to plateau and get caught by the peaking carls? Should be an interesting few weeks...
