I never said deadlifting 500 pounds is easy, I stated I could have done it if it would have been worth it. Why don't more 800m guys or ex-800m guys try it? Risk/reward. Risk of injury. Emmanuel Korir looks strong enough. If E. Korir dedicated himself to 500 deadlift, I have know doubt E. Korir could deadlift 500 pounds. Going all out powerlifting opens an athlete up to numerous potential injuries. The reason why 800m athletes in their prime do not bother attempting to deadlift 500 pounds is the same reason why most F.A.T. sub-10.3 100m men do not quit T&F to attempt to play Am. football. Eight-hundred metre runners do not want to get hurt lifting. Most F.A.T. sub-10.3 100m men do not want to get hurt attempting to play Am. football.
