Running a 2 mile road race in a few months and my current road racing shoes are more than 10 years old.
What are the top recommendations? Maybe top 3 since I'm not sure I'm willing to pay $275. I know those are probably on most people's list.

Anyone have experience with the Saucony Endorphin Pros vs the Nike Vaporflys?

Both are great choices. I'd say the Vaporflys are a little faster but you can get the Endorphin Pro V1s for $140 and get a $50 gift card back at Running Warehouse right now, so obviously a great deal. Both are good for road races from 2 miles up to the marathon so you'll get plenty of use out of them.
Would Asics Metaspeed Sky be a decent choice for a 2 mile road race?
2 miles is that distance where I think power generation is more important than distance efficiency and the difference between traditional flats and super shoes is negligible. I’d say get ya some old school flats of choice. Or hope the new Takumi Sen or Streakfly comes out before your race.
10k and up? Super shoes if they work for you. Anything less than that I feel it’s a toss up.

This is possible, but then I wonder about the New Balance 5280s. Those are road mile carbon plate shoes.
Plus, don't the sprinters now use carbon plate sprint spikes as well?
I kind of get your power generation statement, but a powerful stride can also benefit from the carbon plate technology.
Besides, I'm not running 4 minute pace. My goal is to run sub 10' for 2 miles, which is the same pace as elite marathoners.
If I can chop off 2-3% by wearing these shoes, then I can maybe have a chance to fight off most of the college kids half my age.
The technology is being adapted to shorter distance shoes, which to me is a tell that the high stack marathon racers aren't as optimal for shorter distance races. Otherwise why bother coming out with low stack versions? If the vaporfly works for you for that distance then go for it, I just don’t necessarily think the benefit is near as great at those distances.
I have both the Vaporfly and Endorphin Pro. I decided for 5Ks Endo Pro is the way to go. It's less bouncy and far more responsive so if you are using a supershoe, look at Endo Pro or Speed before thinking Vaporfly. I use Vaporflys for long races
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
