I cheated in my first race - I was psychologically absent from my own body for about 3-4 minutes. Complete flow state.

There was a half-marathon run Hardloper and Jamin entered with a corner cutting plan to run under 1:20. Hardloper was endless thrashing women who could not run faster than 1:20. Of course, people thrashed him back because he had failed multiple times to break 1:20, even with Jamin pacing him. After this thrashing Hardloper enlisted Jamin to try one more time, and suddenly the previously impossible goal was achieved. Hardloper could now "justify" his thrashing of women who could break 1:20.

In the 1972 Drake Relays Marathon several of the runners including myself went off course. Three, including 1968 Olympian Ron Daws, jumped into a spectators car back to the point of error. I protested the result and they were disqualified.

I caught somebody cheating mid-race once. How that married guy could have sex with a woman who wasn't his wife, while still running, was amazing.

Yes. I was doing hurdle crew at a track meet one time and I saw a hs girl studder her steps a bit and literally stop, pick up one of the hurdles and threw it into the lane next to her, hitting the other runner.

Not actually a race but a record attempt was stopped by a LetsRun poster named "Asher Delmott" a few years ago.

Yes, in a 50 km race. Dude overtook me just before some downhill switchbacks about 13 miles into the race which the race director had specifically said not to cut. Trail straightened up after the switchbacks and I could see he had put about a mile on me in less than 15 minutes and I couldn’t believe it. I ended up passing him about 22 miles into the race and I took out the W. After the race I looked at his Strava and saw that he had cut all the switchbacks.

What about that distance race (I think 10,000m but could have been 5000m) in a major championship (probably world champs 2019) where some runners broke immediately from lane 5?

I caught my wife boning the lead bike guy during our local Turkey Trot.

Why would you have your GPS turned on if you planned on cheating? Either this guy was an idiot or you are making this story up for attention.
