Thinking of getting a Samsung watch with LTE. I rather like the idea of leaving the phone at home sometimes, yes, the watch is a phone, but it’s not like I’ll pull the default of looking at YouTube, Reddit, letsrun, while waiting for someone or something.
Anyway, with races resuming, bag checks are often limited or days in advance. So with no experience of a Samsung watch, have any of you worn one during a race? All I care about is pace and time elapsed. I don’t care if the heart rate monitor or cadence counter sucks. If there’s current pace (or average pace) or a “race face” similar to farming, that’s great.
My thinking is, leave my phone at him, but still have phone capabilities in case I need to call an Uber, look up a train schedule, text/call friends and family, access email for QR code check in, leave wallet at home with cards in an app, etc.
I’d still train with my garmin. Just looking at the Samsung as a viable replacement for races.
Thanks.
