With her 100 and 200 WRs looking to be in danger 33 years later, I thought I'd look back on her career. Information from World Athletics website.

1988 28 10.49 21.34 1st place - Olympics 100 meters and 200 meters, WRs 100 and 200 meters
In 1988, the IAAF only shows her competing once internationally twice other than the Olympics, a 11.10 100 meters at Malmo in August and a 10.91 100 meters at Tokyo after the Olympics. Besides the highly controversial 10.49 quarterfinal at the US Olympic Trials, her fastest wind legal 100 meters was 10.61 in the US Olympic Trials final. Her Olympic gold medal time was 10.54, but wind was 3m/s.
In the 200 meters, she only ran under 21.76 twice, in the semifinals and finals at the Olympics.
Take away the 1988 USA Olympic Trials and 1988 Olympics and you have a sprinter that barely dipped under 11.00 a few times and 22.00 a few times with a WC silver and an Olympic silver.
