I'm running London Marathon on Oct 3rd. I just completed the Isle of Skye half in 1:20:51 (3 weeks before the Marathon. It's a pretty tough course with lots of undulating hills, and a headwind for the first 5 miles. That was a pretty tough effort and my time was well beyond my expectations.
I ran a 10k on the flat in around 37:27 a few weeks ago.
I have a coach to write my marathon program which has topped out at around 66miles/week. The plan included 4 weeks at over 60miles with an average of about 50 miles/week over the last 20 weeks.
I've done a few long runs of about 22 miles, several 20 milers with marathon pace stuff thrown in.
I have only ran one marathon before, years ago when I wasn't training properly and not that fit. Had a pretty bad experience - didn't run again for another 2 years.
The dream when I started training was to run London in under 3 hours... Having plugged in my HM time to the Tinman calculator it suggests about 2:50 is possible!!
What time should I should go for at London? Be conservative, and stick to my original goal? Or go for it at say 2:55 pace for the first half, then see how I feel?
Cheers!
