She's proven herself to be a consistent 10.75 to 10.70 sprinter. Unfortunately for her, she's up against a 10.70 to 10.65 sprinter (SAFP) and a 10.60 to 10.55 sprinter (ETH).
She has basic 10.60 potential if she works on her start and tightens up her technique, however people who assume she can fix her start in a year are being unrealistic. ETH hasn't been a consistently decent starter until this year. Very few women's sprinters are consistently good starters outside of SAFP and Ta Lou.
She can beat Jackson, whose start is almost as terrible and doesn't have quite as much top end speed. She can maybe beat SAFP if SAFP doesn't get a good start (I say maybe, because SAFP had a bad start in Tokyo and still ran 10.74 into a headwind) . She's not beating ETH for the foreseeable future.
As for the mental aspect, I think Richardson has a block where SAFP is concerned. She's been constantly compared to her for the past 2 years and would have grown up witnessing SAFP be the dominant force in women's sprinting. She even took credit for SAFP's early season 10.63, which obviously betrayed the fact that she was hyper-focused on her as her chief rival. The fact that her current Twitter profile features SAFP smiling in the background all but confirms that the Jamaican is living rent-free inside her head.
