Everyone always puts the American and other barely sub 4 athletes up with muir. Can we now accept she’s just that much better?

when did people say Muir is not world class? wtf
How would shelbo800 have done in today’s race?

Stopped for a burrito at about 450
Muir is a world class doper for sure
The fast race helped Muir.
Muir is a very poor tactical runner. Just look at her championship record prior to this in the OG and WC.
Talk about manufacturing an issue that doesn't exist.... I don't think anyone would claim that any American 1500 runners are at the same level as Muir. Houlihan was the only one where there could even have been a convo but Muir improved a ton this season even after the burrito stuff went down.

Laura did fantastic, but not sure why destroying the captain of the USA women's soccer team is something to shout about.
No wonder the USA did poorly in the soccer when their captain was running in the 1500m too!

LOL, if someone said that I missed it too
I think this is directed to Purrier hype. To be fair she clearly peaked for Trials and was at a lower level by Tokyo. She destroyed GDS earlier in the season, and soloed a 3:58.0 at Trials. If she runs to her level she’s finishing 4th or 5th. But give Muir credit she took another step forward this year, and thus the PBs at 800/1500. Hard race to screw up tactically but she did not!
Muir had run 3:55 in 2016 already (before supershoes and with a negative split going mostly alone the last two laps). She had a combination of poor tactics and bad luck in the last few major events but was always a contender as ranks 4 and 5 in the WC prove.
Despite a few good results from Purrier (who also seems to have peaked a bit early), Muir has been a level higher for several years and finally got everything together. It was probably a smart move to skip the 800m to remain fresh.
Impressed with a troll thread getting 10+ posts deep without someone bringing up that GDS is actually Canadian.
Muir is consistently world class... ?
and GDS was going backwards the last lap, so to say Muir "put 4 seconds on her" is a bit misleading
Amusing take given Muir and DeBues-Stafford's friendship.
Thoughtleader, resiliently stubbornly refusing to explicitly say "Muir is better than Purrier" to the bitter end. Distinctly remember him confidently putting them in the same league earlier this season. Slow race, fast race, May, June, July, or August, Purrier wasn't beating Muir this year. "Purrier peaked for US trials" - GDS peaked for the Olympics. Her semi-final was faster than Purrier's Mt Sac race despite the heat/humidity, her 2nd lap being a 67, and easing up before the line (16.5 last 100m). I'll put a bit more weight on that than a season opener at Mt Sac any day.

You do know that GDS is Canadian, right?
Last time I checked, Canada was located in North America, so every Canadian is American. A bit like every Scot is an inhabitant of the British Isles.

Muir tries to win every race, leaving her open to be sniped by people kicking for 2nd and 3rd.

That’s a stretch

Tell the next Mexican you meet that he's American, and see how that goes down.
Muir has shown all season she's a class above everyone except Kipyegon and Hassan. Today she did what everyone on LRC said she shouldn't do, she went with the leaders and was rewarded with a silver. She no doubt benefited from Hassan's fatigue, but she had to be in that position to start with, and 3:54 is an amazing time.
Purrier's time may come. She ran 3:58, but the whole experience seemed to overwhelm her. She needs to get on the circuit more, race in different conditions
