He wanted that medal so bad, that was such a gutsy final straight.

Yes!
yeah well he was born abroad. so it doesn't count
(referring to the passport police on the mo ahmed thread)
Not really sure if the dive was his decision, it's pretty clear he got shoved after bumping Kimeli while running him out to lane 4. Ironically the shove may have been what secured him the bronze, regardless of questionable race tactics there at the end.

I'm embarrassed that Chelimo has USA on his singlet. He pulls this crap all the time; he's the idiot kid you knew when you were young, who would ruin anything he was around.
That said, THIS was a race. All you 'tactical' morons can find something else to do now.
ok boomer. chelimo owns and is hilarious. distance running needs more personalities tbh. he gave it everything out there and also won me a lot of money with that podium finish.

How come he didn’t finish up line lane 7? Can’t showboat against real competition, can he?
He should be thankful Jacob opted not to run the 5k
Can't showboat against real competition? He's a two time Olympic 5k medalist. Ran a great race from mostly the front of the pack. He's a lot more decorated as a runner than some of the other comparable "real competition". To be honest, not much showboating needed when you outclass an elite field within an Olympic final.

PAUL MF CHELIMO
Love me some Paul Chelimo! Can't wait for the Brojos to tell us that he's non-American born to try to discredit one of the best distance runners that we have.

You know you're a loser when you're mad about things that haven't even happened.
Absolute electric factory for the sport. Chelimo is a guy who races with passion, and as this race demonstrated, gives absolutely everything of himself. If you can’t handle a little contact or personalities in our sport, you can take credit for lifetimes worth of disinterest in the sport distance running. The soccer, basketball, and American football fans of the world will continue to consider it glorified exercise for unathletic losers. Guys like Chelimo not only make this sport entertaining but also exemplify the level of absolute hard MF’er you have to be to get it done.
Better than Kennedy and Pre. Best American 5000m runner since Bob Schul.

Not quite spanky. One race does not decide a runner's career. Dipsh*t!

This was unquestionably his best race ever. To finish this race in those conditions at his age only 1.5 seconds off his PB was incredible. The winner was way off his PB.

This is supposed to be a place to share opinions about running. I believe Chelimo's consecutive bronze medals at 5k make him a greater 5000m runner than Pre and Kennedy, neither of whom medalled. Some may disagree.
Then you, Mr. Anonymous, call me spanky and Dipsh*t.
Have a nice day. 🙂

Three of you include worlds
He's done well in championship racing, but the vibes he gives make it hard for me to root for him. It's the opposite vibe I get from a Bernard Lagat or Nick Willis. I probably don't know him well enough to make any insightful judgement on him. It's just that his 3nd place finish didn't strike me any differently than all the 3rd places of athletes from other countries (non-USA).
Hopefully, my limited knowledge of him is the problem.
Chelimo is a wild card on the track. Bumping people, tripping, running dudes into outer lanes, putting competitors in headlocks, diving across the line, and GETTING IT DONE. I absolutely love the intensity he brings, and I'm proud to have him repping the USA. Paul MF Chelimo indeed!

Watch the sweat elite videos of his training, it really gives you a better feel for Chelimo and shows what a workhorse he is
