The record is technically like a month old lol
Yep that's fair, my bad got caught up and forgot haha. Still what a great moment for the sport
Rai’s time is equivalent to under all the current world records i listed as well
By my math, Warholm just broke his own WR by 1.6%. He broke Kevin Young's old WR (which was the record coming into this season) by ~1.8%.
Benjamin broke Young's old record by 1.3%.
AND Dos Santos was under Young's old WR.

Equivalent to Bolt’s 9.58. In fact, if you look at the combined events scoring tables, this race gets the exact same score as Bolt’s best race when you account for wind. This race is equivalent to a 9.62 100 meters in the scoring. Bolt’s 9.58 is also considered a 9.62 after the wind conversion.
Not only the best gold medal performance ever, but best silver and bronze medal performances ever too, so this has to be the best global championship race ever run.
How fast would the women have to run tomorrow to equal what we witnessed tonight? Gold in under 51.5 and all three of the top finishers in under 52?

Warholm could run 42.99 right now. Not even kidding. He has the speed. That surge to hurdle 1 and how he pulled away… he’s considerably faster than Rai Benjamin, who would also go well under 44.

Women's 100 10.49,400 47.60 are way superior to this,
though all three are doped.I always thought Kevin Young's
46.78 was soft because if he had not clobbered last hurdle
and celebrated 20m out he would have run 46.40 or better.
A sub 44 man who can hurdle can run this in 45 flat.
I just looked at % differences for all men's world records compared to the 10th best man of all time. I am using that to gauge how impressive a world record is.
400h record is most impressive of all running events. Even more impressive considering hurdles narrow the gap at the front end because of X stepping. Some of the field event records have a bit more spread.
100 2.3%
200 2.6%
400 1.6%
800 1.5%
1500 1.3%
5000 1.6%
10000 1.7%
'thon 1.3%
110h 0.9%
400h 2.9%
3k h 1.0%
LJ 3.0%
TJ 2.1%
HJ 2.1%
PV 2.0%
HT 3.4%
D 4.0%
SP 3.2%
The only thing I knew was that Rai would be under 46.7, I didn’t know that someone would beat him by 0.23

the greatest doper of all time from a country, norway, known for doping in every other endurance sport.
You have no idea about the pressure for being clean in Norway.
Lost in the shuffle is Samba's 47.12 would have won every previous Olympics except Kevin Young's WR in Barcelona in 1992, he got 5th today.
This race was better than the London 800m.
1:59.49
Great battle. Only reservation on calling it greatest ever is time will determine the role the super mondo surface and the spring shoes played in the performance. Definitely an amazing performance, but there have been a lot of those lately.

30 years from now, we will still be talking about this incredible race!
Women using same methodology. Women's distance records are somewhat more impressive than the sprints. Hammer throw record is bananas 100 2.5% 200 1.8% 400 2.3% 800 1.7% 1500 1.7% 5000 1.7% 10000 3.0% 'thon 3.3% 100h 1.1% 400h 1.5% 3k h 3.5% LJ 2.9% TJ 3.1% HJ 2.0% PV 3.7% HT 7.4% D 5.3% SP 4.5%

Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
