Fair point but let's say I am born in britain to a congolese father and a nigerian mother would you accept it if I decided to represent nigeria or the congo instead of GB
If you moved there, became a citizen, learned the language, and renounced your British citizenship then yes I would support. Why not run for country you live in and grew up in? (The answer is because you can't make the team.....99% of the time).
Yeah I could also be proud of my african heritage ("you do in fact need to renounce all citizenships for the congo so it sorts itself out") and also the facilities in these poor african countries are awful so It would be preferable to train in a rich country. Also if representing another nation gives me an easier chance to the olympics why can't i represent them given this is an added bonus for me the olympics should be all about nationalism which is why the reason why I would represent congo would be fundamentally the first reason I gave. However we must respect that it is these athletes dreams to be in the olympic and if they have an opportunity to do this by representing a country of decent I can't slate them for doing so. Also just for fun a rule to the list should be if you were a refugee and claimed assulym SUCCESSFULLY you should be allowed to compete for tham nation
