Flotrack just released their Olympic predictions and in the men's 400m they have Steven Gardiner, defending World Champion and undefeated (other than a DNF) in 2021, FOURTH behind the three Americans. This is just the latest in a long list of indefensible slights against Gardiner, predominantly from the American media. Steven Gardiner won gold in 2019 and silver in 2017 and has run 43.48, #6 all time, faster than Kerley, and about equal to Norman's 43.45 -- so he has a very comparable PR to Norman along with a MUCH better track record in big meets. Can someone explain to me why people continue to act like he doesn't deserve at least as much respect as Norman? Is it just a pro-American bias?
And before anyone says that the rankings don't give weight to past championship performances, these clowns ranked Centrowitz as favorite for SILVER in the 1500. If Centro's 2016 performance is enough to merit that absurd ranking (above Jakob Ingebrigsten??), then in what world is Gardiner 4th?
