Exactly.
39 year old Loyd is slow on and off of the ball.
There are others as well that are long in the tooth.

They lost your interest so you are writing about them?

Don't be a moron. If you're competitive enough to get into the Olympics, you're not withdrawing just because mommy isn't waiting in the stands with a juicebox.

who exactly would you swap out for whom? Do you think Midge Purce and Lynn Williams would have made all the difference? The US losing to anyone in soccer is a great thing for womens soccer. all the cranks who like to complain that the US is only good because nobody else in the world is good cant have it both ways. those of us who knew about Sweden's history against the US knew this game was very losable. I mean they barely stole a tie from this same Swedish team not a month and a half ago. I didnt anticipate 3 zip though.
Definitely would start Catarina Macario up top.
Fast, powerful, technical and can score.
Goalie played bad IMO
Maybe if America would give women the same equality that other countries in the world do, they might have had a fighting chance.
I support Rapinoe's right to protest even though I am not sure her statements are all that well thought out. I actually have some insight into her conduct for her given her experiences being gay and the long imprisonment of her brother, who was for a time an avowed racist caught up in the California prison system. It is not a surprise for her to be oppositional to a large extent. The thing is, she is foremost an athlete, and not a public intellect, so if she and the team doesn't play well her platform will dissolve. In this way I find her similar to Kaepernick, who in the end really needed to put the effort into playing to have a non-transitory impact. I concur the team is getting old - and cannot live off their laurels. This will not be an easy road for them, Soccer is a global game and the women around the globe are getting better.

Who cares? They can pump in the crowd noise on tv. I greatly enjoyed the NFL season and won't care if there are no fans for track.
Stop being negative. I'm pumped. The Olympics are here!!!!
I'm excited about it too. It's here. We might not have had this to watch, but we do. I'm excited about the athletics anyway.

I dont think Macario would have made a difference in this one. The US has the best midfielders in the game and they played terribly in this. Kept turning the ball over and Sweden focused their attack on Dunn sometimes sending three players on her at a time and for whatever reason Press and Mewis and Horan offered no help on her wing. It also didn't help Mewis & Horan couldn't lock down the middle of the pitch so every time Sweden broke past Dunn after wearing her out they had unmarked targets at dangerous spots near our goal that eventually paid off. Blackstenius is one of the most dangerous strikers out there. You give her all those opportunities and shes going to take advantage. And moreover, the US came out flat, uninspired, like they had no urge to win this game and for whatever reason they couldnt seem to come together as a unit. Thats on Vladko ultimately. He clearly got outcoached on this one. Lets hope he is capable of adjusting.
Came here for pics of the spanking.
Left disappointed.

There HAS to be some type of pressure put on USWNT execs and such from NBC to keep "the old guard" around, since those players are the ones the television audience recognizes (ie the casual fan). Ratings = Wins for the advertisers and, thus, NBC makes $$ next Olympics selling womens soccer.
If that is true it just shows how pathetic the woman's game is. Can you imagine pressure being put on Italy by their TV partner to bring specific players?
I should have added in a line or two saying the following.
The arrogance and rudeness of these smug people ripping a 20-year old kid who has been focused on making an Olympic team is sad. He had plenty of very valid reasons not to get vaccinated in season. People want him to jeopardize his Olympic chances and take it midseason even though he just got over Covid. It's illogical.
Why not express the same vitriol at the US govt or the vaccine makers for even offering it to healthy teens when there are hundreds of millions who need it much more badly across the globe?
I think they took too many "injured" and rehabbing players... you should be at the top of your game for the Olympics. Julie Ertz has no business being on the pitch other than NBC/TV/fame recognition. Kelly O'Hara is old. Sauerbraun. Dahlkamper... our whole defense is just soft and aged and I got to watch them in Paris, but that was a lot of these women's prime.. Lavelle is beat up, Morgan coming back from motherhood, Heath coming back from injury; Rapinoe coming back from injury and the media circuit... all phenoms, but need to be 100% when you're the favorite going up against Sweden.
I expect them to crush everything now until the final or they face Sweden again and lose.

What the hell does that have to do with my post?
Hopefully, Rapinoe and crew will have a speedy exit.
Surprised the team came out flat. All that preening in front of cameras complaining about their pay should have had them primed and ready to go.

Oof you keep coming off worse and worse in this thread. I just wish we had lives fans to watch you get spanked.
