The social distancing we were all doing faded away, and Covid continued marching on.
Maybe we should have told them to continue wearing masks? Officials wondered how to save face.
So Delta appeared out of thin air, a strain so evil, it could bypass vaccines. That's why there are outbreaks, they said, blame the unvaxxed, they said. And many bought the lie.
Now they say even the vaxxed should wear masks. You know, with Delta so bad and all. See how this works?
It's interesting that all the variants are referenced to the United States. What do they call the original one from Wuhan, China?
What now?
Run that by us once more.

Not a vaccine approved or used here in the USA. Keep up.
The vaccine is still ~90% effective at protection against hospitalization given that data, or more.
Google 'base-rate fallacy' for those who are confused.
The vaccine is a failure. It's comedy gold watching you run damage control for an experimental vaccine that was overrated & overhyped, and only developed so that Big Pharma could reap in Billions of easy $$$ at the expense of the vulnerable masses. Lol.

Is anything imperfect automatically a failure?
Do you call yourself a failure? Your son? All of these must be true under your curious logic.

I encourage you to google "base rate fallacy" and read a bit. I will send you a 7th grade math textbook for free if you prefer.
Help the world with over population! dont get vaxxed!!!

Just to point out that the UK hospitalization numbers have dropped from 3,500 admissions in a 7-day period at the peak of the pandemic to 500 now. The vaccine clearly works. But then you knew that anyway didn't you and you were just looking to take one number out of context to suit your conspiracy agenda.

It is starting to get a bit absurd.
In the US the vaccine is widely available, if you want it you can get it for free, and if you get the vaccine the chances of you dying of COVID if you happen to get it is around .03% and this usually occurs. Less than 1% of the diminishingly small amount of total COVID deaths are among the unvaccinated. Still, the media, various politicians and the CDC are pushing for another round of mask mandates.
We’ve lost our collective minds.

You're one of those.
Ignore the points I made and delete them from your reply and then make up words, put them in my mouth, and attack them.
By the way, you believe the establishment sole gunman, magic bullet story of the JFK killing?
You are a special kind of naive.

How so? People get the jab, still get Covid, and it's the fault of people who point this out?
Want to flesh out that argument?

One of the things that makes this forum unreadable is people who are unable to trim quotes to be relevant and short.
Hilariously you accuse me of inventing things you didn't say when I specifically said you didn't mention them but you couldn't help yourself commenting in a conspiratorial manner about the JFK thing.
All conspiracy nuts have this same condition where any allegation they make is fact independent of the evidence. All evidence they agree with is true and all evidence that doesn't suit them is fabricated.
Don't you see how closely linked this is to mental illness such as paranoid delusions?

1. That's another lie. Here is what you said. "And you have no idea of how logical, credible arguments are constructed, other than aliens, chemtrails and the JFK assassination you just assembled a standard conspiracy word salad." Where's the part where you" specifically said you didn't mention them"?
2. If you said I did not say them, then why put them in your argument?
Not too bright, are you?

Which bit of
"other than aliens, chemtrails and the JFK assassination you just assembled a standard conspiracy word salad."
Is confusing you ? note the first two words are "other than"
Brighter than you it seems
Of course the vaccine is not a failure. 97% of those hospitalized didn't get the vaccine, so clearly getting the vaccine is an essential and effective, if not perfect, way to protect yourself from covid.
But here is the most critical part of of "former runner's" post that tells you everything you need to know about a large percentage (not all) of the anti-vaxxers. The fact that the vaccine isn't 100% and some who were vaccinated died is bad news to most people right? But to former runner, his post has an implied glee to a weakness in the vaccine. Its not about the health of the nation, its not even about health to the individual, it about some distorted sense of "sticking it to the libs". Former runner didn't even address the theme of the post he linked but he focused in on the weaknesses and he/she did so with a weird certain relish for the bad news. He is part of a group that not only is easily swayed by any anti vaccination information but actually seeks it out and has a very strong need for it.
Odd behavior but way too common.

This is very very true.
These people have made their identity anti-vaccination. They’ve tied their self worth to this sort of contrarianism. Thus, they are desperate for a failure of the “establishment” view that vaccines work and are saving lives.
The fact that they can resolve some insane internal conflict and actually cheer the possibility of MORE death after the last 16 months is surprising. These people have no feelings left, just blind allegiance to their dogma.
Of course, this means they randomly jump into any thread they can find to babble embarrassing anti-vaccine talking points, clogging up useful discussion generally bringing the level of discourse even lower (hard to do on LRC!)
I can’t imagine what these people are going to do when COVID is truly beaten, vaccines are hailed as the key solution, and everyone moves on and forgets about them. Probably pick another sociopathic conspiracy and remain parked in their basement, crying online.
Congratulations, you posted without saying "base-rate fallacy."

I hope you've looked into it. It's an elementary topic that you were missing completely.
This is such a great post, especially these two paragraphs:
"These people have made their identity anti-vaccination. They’ve tied their self worth to this sort of contrarianism. Thus, they are desperate for a failure of the “establishment” view that vaccines work and are saving lives.

Instead of despairing that even the vaunted US scientific/immunological community (which should be a source of pride for all of us) could not (or has not yet) come up with a sure vaccine, right-wingers are sadistically gleeful whenever current vaccines don't work perfectly. Why is that? Are they overjoyed whenever a plane crashes, because that'll teach libs to defy gravity? Why has vaccine denialism, in particular, become so embedded in mainstream right-wing culture? (I don't mean fringe, white-Yogic culture--I mean among elected representatives, newscasters, "thinkers," etc.) It's just so nonsensical.
