No one is talking about the New Balance spikes but they look like they’re better than the Dragonfly, Air Zoom Victory, and Maxfly. Look at how well New Balance athletes performed at the Trials. Nick Willis tried them and said they made his times better
Are all new spikes going to be referred to as super spikes? What happens when spikes come out that are better than these? Super duper spikes?
Super foam + propulsion plate = super shoe
If the propulsion plate is not carbon fiber (Zoom fly) it isn't a super shoe.
Using any foam Boast and older is not a super shoe.
Emma Coburn's spikes are dragonfly killers
Can we actually put a name/model to these?
These?

It is not the LD5KV8
I assume it would be the fuelcell LDX ?
Also getting into recovery which wasn't addressed here. There will be something on that coming up.

So Dragonfly's are not super spikes then? Pebax plate, same as the Waveplates in Mizuno's trainers (and their super shoe, which I've heard very mixed things about)
Presumably this?

Hey, whatever you need to hack an extra 30 seconds of your next 10k seems fair.

Yes, those are them; but not exactly what Coburn/Mcgee are wearing. The forefoot in Coburn’s seem much thicker. The plates are also different. Wightman races in a similar pair with a 3/4 spikeless plate.
Coburn’s spike
Also, Murphy’s Saucony prototype
So these shoes seem to be not available to the masses? Search comes up empty.

Correct. It seems the whole prototype issue/rule applies only to Nike.

World Athletics scaled back the “commercial availability” requirements during the pandemic due to manufacturing problems. Prototypes are allowed in competition right now, so long as they don’t violate the new technical regulations.
It will be interesting to see if/how they reintroduce the prototype ban. The other brands clearly care about it less now that they have their own super shoes.
Would be nice if these super spikes were more available .. NB ones sell out in 2 mins and ASICS / adidas dont offer any info about the release . There is demand, why don’t the companies want to make $ ?
