San Francisco and Portland are the epitome of progressivism taken too far. These people have lost their minds. It's like watching Jonestown...only this time It's the progressives. They've become religious zealots.

NYC has 10X the homeless population that SF does but half as many people living on the streets. Shelters work. It's hard to find work, hold down a job, and get your life back on track when you are living in a tent.
Don't feed me that BS...These people don't apply for jobs. I was homeless once for over 3 months, you find ANY type of work, save, get a room, save, get an apt., save, get a car, get a better job, save, buy a house..I retired at 53.....
Lol so simple...you check rents and home prices in CA/SF lately hahahahahaa

SF was a world class city.
Not living there but frequenting over the years, I have witnessed it’s deterioration over the past 20 years. Very very sad and to the point a few years ago my wife and I said we don’t feel comfortable or safe there. Haven’t stepped foot in SF since 2017.
Ditto. In 2018, I saw needles in the streets, someone nodding off in line at Safeway and a guy walking thru the Marina, randomly vomiting, probably dope sick. First 15 minutes in the city, saw a police officer taking a report from some Australian tourists about a car break-in. It's sad. I used to vacation there almost every year but it will be a long time before I go back.

Agree.
Also everything the GOP touches turns to feces.
The right loves to believe that the rest of the world has finally discovered what it already knows, that places where lefties live are terrible and are doomed. In 1985 they said that Sweden would come apart at the seams because of its social polices and that California was doomed because of its high taxes and that people would flee the permissive crime bomb that is NYC.
Great predictions. Spot on. Just as insightful as this thread's comments.
LA...San Francisco...NYC are toilets and people ARE leaving.....You need to read more.

I would also say that these are three great world class cities - that have been systemically destroyed by decades of continuous democrat rule.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois lost a combined 4 million residents between 2010 and 2019. Conversely, a recent study by U-Haul reported that the top five states to see the greatest influx of new residents include the Republican-led states of Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio and Arizona.

Bingo. The whole process repeated over and over again. The same idiots voting for the same idiots that make the policies...and then they wonder why?

With the mass exodus from CA, the obliteration of Sweden by covid, and NYC landlords begging their tenants to stay, wouldn’t you say what you wrote (I assume sarcastically) is somewhat true?

By that logic, it's also somewhat true that Texas is falling apart, given its power outages. But that's not true, not at all. Texas is doing very well, thanks much.
That is also simple math. These states and areas had that many people to lose. One could also argue that the losses in these states are being offset by highly skilled immigrants who ARE moving there.
Meanwhile
"Red "States like Alabama, Miss, Alaska, West Virginia are losing with nary a mention of the conservatives here.
and regardless of state politics. Rural areas in almost every state not in the mountains are rapidly losing population as people move to larger more liberal cities. Austin and Houston are rather liberal.
.
(BTW- the forbes article is idiotic. I live in Denver and have never even heard of that uppiddy development Sterling Ranch. It's for white suburbanites. To act like a 12,000 household area is stealing a lot of residents from Denver which gained 30,000 residents in 2020 is laughable)

yeah i think all of the san francisco liberals are clamoring to live in des moines or shreveport or rural georgia
it amazes me how stupid conservatives can be
regardless of how bad you might think sf has gotten the us would be an absolute third-world country without the liberal cities you point to as failures
think of how many loser, redneck methy states are the reddest of the red -- now compose an entire country of them, without the blue states subsidizing their complete lack of production
I live in DSM. I have been to San Fancisco many times. Our county votes overwhelmingly for Democrats.
1) There is literally no way I would leave here to live in that dump.
2) You have no idea what you are talking about. Please stay in California.
Guys, I'm going to say that it is not a 'homeless problem' - that is misdirecting the truth. The problem is an utterly corrupt system that is designed to keep a minority becoming increasingly wealthy with the majority enslaved to that system through various means, in part brainwashed/ indoctrinated, and in fear of breaking out of that system due to the personal cost. The 'homeless problem' is a consequence of an evil against society and people. These guys are victims of that system, albeit they may do stuff to make matters worse, but you have no idea of the level of utter desolation and desperation that they have been subject to. The true problem, and responsibility for, is one that sits on everyone's shoulders, yet we allow a minority to continue to implement policies which continue a persecution of the marginalized and are content to do so as long as personal situations are not adversely affected.
I am homeless/ penniless. I was previously a multi-millionaire investment banker, inventor/patent holder/product/ tech/ brand owner etc and deep within their system connected at a very high level. The more I was exposed to the occult truth of what that means, the more I rejected it and fought back, and subsequently had my life destroyed. I am here to tell you that the Bible is for real, and we are seriously apart from God, against His ways and watching the consequences unfold and waiting for someone else to do something about it. There is an unseen evil that is destroying humanity and creation and we re deceived into being complicit to that evil. Christ Jesus left two commands .. Love God with all of your heart, with all of your mind and with all of your soul. And love your neighbor as you love yourself.. And He condensed this into "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
The 'homeless problem' consists of many people who are your neighbors.

There isn't enough room in jails for all these arrests and they certainly can't pay fines. What is the purpose of the funding and is it the reason behind the large homeless population? What happens if the funding is eliminated? I doubt if people in residential areas want tents in their neighbors either.
The homeless are transient. The idea isn't to put them all in jail. The idea is to make conditions such that they prefer a different city.
San Francisco has a lot of homeless people because it is a good place to be homeless, so homeless people from all over go there. Make SF a bad place to be homeless and they'll go somewhere else.
There is a well known saying in the old country:
Build it and they will come; feed them and they will stay.
Please. I was just in San Francisco and the quality of life is absolutely fantastic. The food, culture, physical beauty, the landscape, the most beautiful city in the world, highly affluent. The only real problem is that you need to make a ton of money to afford to live there.
Flyover state plebians and obsessively madposting about great coastal cities. Name a better duo.
Seriously, enjoy your arctic winters and sweltering summers and barely-extant knowledge economies. I'm sure it's worth it because you don't have to see brown people.
While there is an influx to southern states because of cost of living and perceived good weather (how anyone who actually lives in south Florida or Texas or Arizona would agree that the weather is good from April through October is beyond me), this has been going on for generations now. The only difference is that California has had a small reduction in growth because of high real estate prices. California is no less wonderful and stunning than it was thirty or forty years ago. Much of it is like paradise on earth. It has just, for that very reason, become unaffordable for many in population centers.

Companies who said the Bay Area would be their first choice to headquarter a company dropped from 41.6% in 2020 to 28.4% in 2021.
And 39% of them will move to Oakland. Such a non-story if you really know the Bay.
