Fisher should have stiff armed Chelimo.
Exactly you are allowed to keep moving out. There’s no infraction of impediment neither grant or woody had to check their stride. The rules are no different drifting from lane 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 than lane 1 to 2. If you get them to the outside you can’t force them off the track

Obviously intentional and he admitted as much afterwards.
No doubt it was intentional, but so what? We have our three fastest. Teare was not impacted by the move. If USATF dq’d Chelimo it would be the dumbest move in the history of the sport.

163.3. Each competitor shall run in a direct line after entering the final straightaway in all races of two or more turns unless there is another competitor in his or her path.
163.4. Any competitor or participant responsible for jostling, running across, or obstructing another competitor or participant so as to impede his or her progress shall be liable to disqualification in that event. The Referee shall have the authority to order the race be re-held, excluding any disqualified competitor(s), for one, some or all competitors seriously affected by jostling or obstruction or allow such competitors to compete in a subsequent round of the race. Normally, such competitor(s) should have completed the event with bona fide effort. The Referee shall also have the authority to order the race be re-held or advance one, some or all competitors seriously affected by jostling or obstruction that is unintentional or caused otherwise than by a competitor if it is just and reasonable to do so. NOTE: Some factors to be considered when determining a disqualification include safety, equitable competition, severity of the infraction and resulting consequences.

I don't care about the 3 fastest. I'd rather not have a scumbag on the team.
God, you guys are babies. He was toying with those guys. If he's DQd, I'm not going to watch another track race all year after the mens 1500.
Was it bush league and a dick move? Yes.
But how is it different than what we see in every single race? In vritually every single distance race the winner wins in lane 2. Technically they should say in lane 1 and they are never DQd. How is this any different? The person behind you - and lets be real Fisher and Woody weren't in his league today - runs a little bit extra.
Stop whining.
Chelimo is world class. Fisher and Kincaid are national class. Maybe they will amke the jump but they havent yet.

This is why there’s a reaction, Robert. It was a dick move, and deserves comment.
No one would be complaining if he was in lane 2. He was in lane 4. If he is world class and Fisher is just national class why did he have to push him in to lane 4 to win? Should be easy to just kick away in lane 1.

Get off your pedestal, Rojo. I’d rather him get DQ’D here instead of in Tokyo for being a Bonehead. He has a history of being reckless on the track. I would take Garrett Heath over Chelimo. Chelimo is a tool and arrogant. DQ all the way.

Nobody's whining. Chelimo deliberately violated 2 rules. Chelimo had a dust up with Mead earlier in the race for much less.
Were either runner directly behind Chelimo impeded?
Did they trip? Break stride? Give us something to go with.
That kid from NJ or whatever running a 4:08 a couple of weeks ago at the state meet got a DQ for much much less.

The guy he impeded is going to the Olympics anyway and probably wouldn't have any interest in filing a protest. The guy who would benefit from a Chelimo DQ (the fourth place finisher) doesn't really have grounds to protest because he isn't the one who was impeded.
DQ would have been warranted, but I don't really see a successful protest here.
What rule would warrant a DQ?
Exactly. Chelimo never broke the stride of another athlete. What he ddi is totally fine and legal. Besides that face the Bowerman guys said it was a smart move
Looked like Fisher broke stride in the replay.
That kid from NJ made the crucial mistake of not being famous before breaking the rules.

under a completely different set of rules.

yea and almost everybody on that forum was in agreement that he should be DQ'ed
Chelimo admitted he impeded. Chelimo pushed them outside. They could either slow down and stay in the lane, jostle with Chelimo, or move outside.
Chelimo also left his lane on the final straightaway.
