Dirty tactics and then gives Fisher and Kincaid noogies...what a jerk.

He can switch to flat track roller derby, when he retires from track. Swerving around to block your competitors is part of the strategy there. As far as track and field goes, I got a stern lecture from my coach in 1970 about picking my line down the home stretch and holding it, wonder when that all changed
And, btw Kara Goucher, you can't talk about Paul Chelimo's vast, vast experience and then say he doesn't know what he is doing.
You can force people outside in the home stretch, that’s part of the sport. If Fisher and Kincaid didn’t like it then they could have sacked up and cut inside on him easily. I don’t care what they ruled in some hs race. Also it’s different to cut inside on lane 1 in front of someone vs forcing them outside. It’s not dirty racing.
FIRST TIME I have seen that action NOT result in a DQ.
Chelimo admits he played games going to lane 4!

+1
Chelimo wins!
Not worthy of a DQ.
Quit being a bunch of pu***s
He didn’t break any rules. Fair game.
Dude where is the high school kid who got dq’d for going into lane 3??? Everyone who called him out and said that is a “dq everytime” is insane.
lmao complains like a drama queen during the race and then does THAT in the final straightaway? what a joke. if Fisher had refused to move and just bumped and shoved with him, I bet he would have had a lot to say about that, too.

Is there a rule that says you have to finish in lane 1? I don't think so.
At NCAAs, Hocker got the lead in lane 2 and then moved into lane 1 in front of Nuguse to block him. For some reason I didn't like it.
But this one I liked. Not sure why. Call me a hypocrite.
And also if everyone if veeering out it doesn't give anyone an advantage. If everyone here is running a tangent all it does is make it easier for Cooper Teare in lane 1 right?
it wasn't even a mind game. it was a physical game. he just didn't want to admit that he was cutting Fisher off just in case.

Questionable tactic
I wonder what Lord Coe thinks.
Agreed! It’s a race tactic. Just team racing is a racing tactic. Sorry but Teare is going home devastated!! Lol
That’s actually kinda hilarious.
👆🏻
Yeah this is right.
You can force someone outside, but then you can't cut them off the other direction. You get one "move" in this sense. If Fisher tried to move inside with 50 left and then Chelimo cut him off again, it would be a DQ.
That was actually a really smart tactic by Chelimo

Correct. It's embarrassing how bad people are at geometry.
People who watch more than one track meet every four years know that this is just part of racing.
Reminded me of the old Boys High race tactics. Not only are you forced out to lane 4 but you might end up with a black eye.
So who picked the winner of the 5k would come from Lane 4?!?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
