Wonder what the salary will be ? Clearly no really knows how much runners make especially here . Similar to Alan Webb’s deal . I can’t see it being any more than 200 k a year - base . But good for him it’s time to make some money

Hes not going to become an engineer at NAU. Teacher maybe, but I wouldnt trust any public university education program these days with their social wokeness indoctrination.
Having that college team experience would be fun for a kid that cant see beyond especially on a team like NAU. That doesnt mean he shouldn't reassess each year. I wonder what his current coach is advising?
You mean universities...where the smartest people are? I'm going to guess they know way more than you.

So his coach is Warhurst but he’s going to live and train with Smith’s team. This doesn’t seem well thought out.
This can’t be right.

When will adidas have an official team in the USA? (They may already and I’m just not too educated) Think about it though, Bryce hoppel and Hobbs Kessler training together 👀
It’s called tinman elite buddy.

So who will he actually be training and working out with? Will Mike Smith just let him hop in with the boys or something?
That’s my question as well. Why not just stay in Michigan?

Good one
Will he be wearing Nike spikes

The Adidas salary offer was matched by New Balance except that it was a few years shorter. It's a shame they didn't sign him I think he could be a marketing star for a true American brand unlike Adidas where he will be drowned out by Football and Basketball stars no matter how fast he runs.
How much did you hear it was for. The #s I'm hearing are astronomical.

I have no idea about these things.
If you want to learn more, please read this:

I heard Drew Hunter got 10 years $4 million.

Ok, that's a tonne.
I'd take the money then too.
Perhaps Drew Hunter will improve when he's in a contract year - seems to work in the big pro sports. No incentive to run fast (other than to be your best and silence doubters I guess) with a contract that big and long.
I REALLY want to see this kid in the 1500 final, it would be an amazing story.

You guys really need to get a life. Why would Kessler become a pro runner? What a sad life that would be. Kessler wants to go to college, be part of a team, get a degree and then find a career. Maybe he'd like to be a teacher, like his mother. Maybe he'd like to be an engineer. Northern Arizona is going to pay him well. He's not going to go pro.
Let's think about it. Go to college where your scholarship pays for tuition and housing and you net $0. Or, get a $50k base salary with an additional housing stipend and a travel budget to travel the world.
And NAU will not pay him extra money. NAU is not a big athletic school generating hundreds of millions of dollars like the SEC schools.
I know that when Ajee Wilson turned pro and moved to Philly, Adidas paid for her full tuition at Temple. I would assume that Adidas would give Kessler a similar deal. No college competition but you still get some of the college experience.
NB matched Adidas through the next Olympic cycle at 750k (‘21-22: 220k, ‘23: 250k, ‘24; 280k) plus apparently really good bonus structure which I have no details.
The Adidas deal must this x2 Olympic cycles at least.
That's my boy!

It was $1.2 million guaranteed, Max value $3 million with performance bonuses.

Post a 😉 if you heard it's more than 900K/yr?
Given that a cut of this will go to people like coach, agent, etc., is this really all that much? Plenty of young people making way more than this especially in NYC, SF bay area, etc. Most of my classmates did at least (admittedly I went to a top school).

It really isn't. Pro runners aren't getting rich. You can go into Tech or Finance and make a better living but you'll be grinding away at a computer many hours a day rather than doing something you love. Take the money to go pro and then pursue something else when you retire from competition.

I did think it was strange the Hobbs was wearing the adidas, which other commenters are claiming are an exclusive access shoe. Did grijalva wear them the other week?
the new Adidas Ambition, on sale in July....
