I was planning on going to college however some problems happened in my life that changed my mind. However i still want to continue running competitively by myself and in many years from now my goal is to qualify for the Olympics in the 5000/10000m. Im planning on 2 peaking periods in 1 year, 1 in the fall and one in the late spring so i will have 2 bases per year.
52 weeks in a year
26week training cycle
Base period: 13 weeks: tempo run, fartlek run, hill sprint session, weight training 2x week, longrun per week
Transition period: 7 weeks: 5k workout, 10k workout 25% of key 5k training, hill sprint session, longrun per week
Peak Period: 6 weeks: 5k workout, 3k workout 25% of key 5k training, hill sprint session, longrun, every week
Time trial every other week once transition period starts
2nd 26 week training cycle
Base period: 13 weeks: tempo run, fartlek run, hill sprint session, weight training 2x week, longrun per week
Transition period: 7 weeks: 5k workout, 10k workout 25% of key 5k training, hill sprint session, longrun per week
Peak Period: 6 weeks: 5k workout, 3k workout 25% of key 5k training, hill sprint session, longrun, every week
Time trial every other week once transition period starts
For every 26 weeks i increase mileage by 10.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be helpful, thanks.
