Is this a faster equivalent than Webb's 3:53?
Yes, very much.

Wow! That is a huge drop and realizes all the potential shown in those workouts this year. That is superior to 3:53 in the mile by a couple seconds and is an Olympic qualifying time, as well as superior to the in-season NCAA record just set by Yared Nuguse.
Holy crap
I dunno if he’ll find a mile race to do it, but Webb’s record might be toast if he can
Either way this might be the most impressive high school record in the books
second coming of Ryun
WOW!!! SIZZLE!!!
@rojo... what’s your take?
Peaking too soon???
Who’s move???
20 years to the day after Webb!! We could have a new HS mile record!
Any race video out there???
Link????
A decent enough time, but rojo is 100% correct about the boing boing shoes.
Corrected, this is more like a 3:40 and vastly inferior to Webb's performance.

Sad individual
Bro needs to get the bag and go pro. Screw NAU
Not sad. The truth. All of these performances deserve a big fat asterisk. Bouncing is not running, last I checked.

He’s winning Olympic gold in 3 years bookmark this now. Unreal. Insane. Absolutely phenomenal. The future of American running is here.
How come on this site when a HS boy runs fast he's going to win gold in 3 in years but when a HS girl runs fast (Roisin Willis for example) she'll be burnt out in the next 3 years?
Just curious.
I wouldn't make the above prediction with Cheruiyot and Ingebrigtsen in 3:27-28 shape and probably five or more good years left, but to the second question, the record of high school girl phenoms is very poor. In recent years, we had two different girls run 4:04/4:03, for instance, and neither ever improved on that. For instance, there have been ten men to win NCAA and Footlocker titles, despite the fact that foreign men who don't compete here in high school win most of the NCAA distance titles, while there have been only four women to do the same feat. Of those, only Seidel and Hasay arguably had top professional careers, whereas Fisher (7:38/13:02?), Cheserek (3:48-49), Solinsky (7:35/12:55/26:59 AR), Ritzenhein (12:56 AR/27:22/60:00/2:07:47), and Kennedy (7:32/12:58) all had top careers. Willis, however, has been brought along with a plan by parents who know something about top running, so she may be an exception, as has Athing Mu in her 400/800 events.
There is zero evidence so far that the track spikes help. Look up my broader lists on the subject.

Athing Mu also ran everything from the 200 to the 1500 in HS so developed as a much more complete runner than the typical distance female phenom that was hyper-focused on the aerobic side of running. Not to mention you can just look at Mu and see she's built different than a lot of the female phenoms. Most of the female hs phenoms simply don't have the speed to keep progressing after hs.

Mondo Duplantis 19'10 pole vault
What shoes?
I have been fortunate to Know Ron for a while now. I think he thought he could run 3:37 flat or better. This kid is a freak show. His 8:39 two mile with a 5.x close should have said that.
This was "oh my God " type stuff.

Some random high school kid running 3:34 seems like pretty good "evidence."
Boing boing.
I'm literally shaking... what just happened.
Agree. Mondo #1. Now Hobbs the new #2. Unbelievable!
Engels ran 3:33 had run around there previously
Kid who is trained by one of the best coaches ever and trains with pros and acts like one runs this fast
If Webb got to train with Ferlic and Willis from ages 17-18 I think he would’ve ran 3:33-3:34
